If Washburn somehow returns to his 2002 form it would be a good deal.

Guillen, earning $3.5 million next season, also could be involved in a Piazza trade; he could replace left fielder Cliff Floyd, who is expected to be the centerpiece of any Mets' deal for Cubs right fielder Sammy Sosa.

Now that wouldn't be a bad lineup at all.

Reyes
Matsui
Wright
Sosa
Guillen
1b
Cameron

I had mentioned the idea of trading for Washburn a few weeks ago for the Mets. Seeing how he's shown the upside, Peterson has turned around a few lefties, and the fact that Shea will keep some of Washburn's mistakes in the park, it makes plenty of sense.

You sign Delgado for sure if you do those two, so you have a top notch lefthander between the slugging righties, Wright, Sosa, and Guillen.

I like the lineup excluding Sosa, but I doubt Zambrano pitches one game next year

Wait a second. A few weeks ago you were in favor of trading Piazza for Guillen straight up. Now that Washburn is being added you don't like it?

I said if they pick up the money, in this case the money they would've picked up (for us to spend) goes to Washburn. NO!

Plus, now that Wilpon has said he'll open the checkbook, I wouldnt be in favor of Guillen-Piazza now

we'll see, i'll give him credit for giving minaya full control over baseball operations but he still has to prove that he'll spend the big money to get GOOD players over here!!!

you really wanna know the answer?

Like I said, hes acting like he'll spend money this year, knowing that I wouldnt do the trade. When I commented a few weeks ago I was assuming payroll would be status quo
