If Sexson doesn't re-sign with Arizona, the New York Mets are believed to possibly have the inside track on the power hitter, who is coming off major shoulder surgery. The Seattle Mariners, thought by many to be the favorite to land Sexson, are targeting Blue Jays free agent Carlos Delgado as their top choice among available first basemen. Sexson is said to be their second pick

If this is true, I don't know that I like this.

Could you imagine Cameron, Sosa, Sexson, and Matsui in the same lineup. That's between 600 and 700 strikeouts between them.

if they get Sexson I doubt they'd pick up Sosa too. How about Jose Guillen? He's cheap and would be perfect hitting 5th or 6th.

ehhhhhh if they get sexson they'll need a guy like maggs in the lineup, a .300 hitter that doesn't strikeout alot!!!

I doubt Wilpon would spend that much. obviously that would be terrific, but I'm just going by what I think is most likely.

well think about it, IF and right now that's a big IF, if the mets re-sign benson and leiter then can probably get both guys but obviously if they don't sign one or even both of them they will have to go out and get a pitcher so that would make it even more impossible to get another big time hitter!!!

No to Sexson. He's Dave Kingman. Homerun or nothing. I dont want to see Sexson in this lineup and in Shea striking out 160x a season.

Sexson is kind of similar to Dave Kingman. I don't think 500 foot homers can make me happy when we're losing the game 15 to 1. We have a team of people who strike out a ton, if we want Sexson we have to trade Matsui, Cameron or both.

sexson is definitely a kingman type but he'd be a great cleanup or #5 hitter, i do think the mets would have to get a player like maggs to offset all of sexson's K's, at least with maggs the mets will at least have a hitter that can hit .300, walk and drive in 100 runs!!!
