Mr. Glass Would Play First Base

Quote:

Cliff Floyd is willing to move to first base next year if the Mets want him to, and GM Jim Duquette admitted it could be a possibility.

"We'd consider it but we haven't even talked about it," Duquette said. "If it's something we thought would be good for the team, he's always been open to playing some other positions."

Moving Floyd to first in 2005 would be a creative way for the Mets to have their best offensive lineup and also maximize Floyd's health. Floyd's only request was to not have to switch in-season, as he would want to be able to take the spring and learn the position.

I think it's great when a player does that. It shows that a player is loyal to a team and wants to be there.

He'd break his arm again. Have poor little Timmy in the front row getting blood in his mouth when Cliff's elbow bone goes popping out his tricep. Seeing Mike Piazza panicking and screaming, "Ahhh, ahhh.......ahhhhhhhhhhh. Blood, ahhhh......someone catch me......ahhhhhh!" Is that what Mets management wants?

So if Floyd goes to 1B, then Piazza goes back to catcher!? How ridiculous, all this commotion about Piazza moving to 1B and the Mets are willing to move him back to catcher after just 50 games at 1B? :serious:

Piazza's career is winding down, he is half the player he used to be. Now they want to put him back at catcher were he will only get more beat up, and more hurt? :dunno:

floyd probably knows he will not be back next season that's probably why he is saying that, the mets are not going to have floyd play 1st next season, they'll trade him and have piazza play 1st next year!!!

How about the Mets pony-up and offer a trade for Jason Giambi. :dunno: Just a thought.
