They get beat by Puerto Rico!!! PR!!!!!!!!! They aren't even one of the top national teams. WOW!!!!! The NBA is SO FAR behind in teaching the game and playing fundamentals it isn't even funny. This proves one thing in my mind....you can take one of these European National teams that are in the olympics, and put them in the NBA and they may win a title. The US game is FAR FAR FAR behind right now in playing a team oriented sound game. Zone us to death, because we can't shoot! Patehtic, sad! |

Absolutely horrible. US plays no fundamentals. Carlos Arroyo was the man today. They might as well go home now, no medal these selfish bastards. |

They were 3 for 24 from three point range. The shot is 20 feet instead of 23 in the real NBA. :annoyed: |

I agree, but it is American b-ball as a whole, not the NBA. When a player reaches the NBA, he should know how to shoot the ball and play the fundamentals. The real problem is that players are told they can be stars when they are 13 years old because they are tall and can jump. They should be taught the fundamentals and care about shooting since they were kids. The NBA should have a minimum age of 21. This would force kids to stay in college for 3 years, where they will learn the game, and hopefully it would force kids to care about shooting the ball, practicing since they were little kids in their driveways or in the gym. Telling them that athleticism alone will get them to the NBA is the main problem. |

It's possible when your best 3-pt shooter is Richard Jefferson. |

Everyone said they needed a shooter like Rip Hamilton or Michael Redd. Then they added Dwayne Wade (not to put any blame on Wade, in particular). 12 althetes, with 10 of them having no further talent than 'athleticism' is not going to win anything. Maybe colleges and the NBA will start changing their focus now. :wall: |

That's right. Its like baseball with guys who can't bunt. Most of the players who have made it to that level, dominated as kids. "You don't need to lay a bunt down, you're hitting .600 and you're the slugger." "You don't need to learn to shoot, you're 6'6" in the 9th grade. Just dunk on everyone." Amit is right. They didn't do a good job selecting the team. I mentioned it in another post (its long, so most of you probably didn't/won't read it) that it seems as if they just went down the PPG league leaders and picked the guys who scored the most. This team has too many of the same type of players (with deficienies) and neglected to add some of what the team needed. Who on that squad can knock down a 3 consistently? Our best 3 poiint shooter is probably Marbury and he shot around 30% from downtown. Iverson is the king of the 8-30 night. Jefferson couldn't knock down a clutch free throw if his life depended on it. LeBron and Carmelo are both low FG percentage scorers who are inconsistent shooters and do most of their scoring on fastbreaks and layups. When a team is zoning the hell out of you, ain't no layups. All you have left to rely on is our poor shooting. Someone mentioned the name Michael Redd. He would have been better for this team than LeBron. Hell, I would have even tried Wesley Person. No perimeter defenders (outside of RJ) and no shooters. |

It could be the American Death Row Inmates versus the Vatican Saints, I'm hoping for America to blow them out by 50.
You're of Puerto Rican descent, but you're an American. Most Americans can trace their roots back to some other country, but the fact is that you were born here. This is your country. |

You wanna root for thugs who are showing you that they don't care? They're not a team. They are selfish a-holes that have nothing to lose. When it's all over, they'll go home to their mansions and their money. I hope they win nothing. These other athletes don't have money and they're playing for national pride. Those are the people who you root for. |

As I've said before, Tim Duncan is not a Blood. Dwayne Wade is not a murderer. LeBron James (whose ass we were all kissing) isn't a burglar. Outside of a few examples, real "thugs" don't play proffessional basketball. They're on the streets, in prison, or in the NFL. |
