One reason the Mets' end of those trades might not look so bad in the end is the two prospects they got back from Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh -- pitcher Bartolome Fortunato and second baseman Jeff Keppinger.

One scouting director we talked to raved about Fortunato's 97-mph fastball and projected him as a potential No. 2 starter. Keppinger, meanwhile, was described as "a hard-nosed guy" who is hitting .336 in Double-A, with just 19 strikeouts all year in 400 trips to the plate.

i don't know about fortunato being a number 2. besides he is about to be 30. but he could be a good reliever. and i like what i see from keppinger

I was looking at the Norfolk Tides site on minorleaguebaseball.com just now.

Look at this link:
Norfolk Tides Roster

I was also looking at the Binghamton Mets site on minorleaguebaseball.com.

Look at this link:
Binghamton Mets

If you are wondering how old Keppinger is. He is 24 years old. Fortunato is 29 years old but he will be 30 very soon (born August 24th).

I dont know where Keppinger fits in anyway. He is a 3B, we're pretty much set in that department. Maybe he could be used in another trade???

he is actually a 2nd baseman but has been playing some 3rd to make him self more valuable.

I just read that a few hours ago, maybe he can be a solid bench player in a year or two
