This is based on the Reds looking into playing Jr. at 1st Base next year. Yankees send Giambi to LA (w/cash plus Giambi agrees to restructure salary) Yankees send a prospect to Cincy LA sends Odalys Perez to the Yankees LA sends Adrian Beltre to the Reds (LA doesn't want to give him a huge contract) Cincy sends Sean Casey (signed thru 2005) to the Yankees Cincy sends Austin Kearns to LA |

I don't think Giambi would fit on a team that doesn't have a DH. He's supposed to play first base for the remainder of his deal? I kind of like the players the Yankees would be getting back, but I don't think the deal would work for the Dodgers. |

Would be a sweet deal for the Yanks, MantleMurcerMunson (MMM), but I don't see LA doing this since Giamboo is a big ??? :dunno: He hasn't been a 120million dollar man and I don't see him every being one without his "magic". We'd have to pay most of his salary fer sure, but if LA was game, i'd do this in a flash. Cut your loses and move on. ;) |

i think beltre is a free agent after this year, so the reds could just sign him if they wanted and not have to give up kearns. |

This is very rare, but I have to agree with Matty23 on this. I do like the trade from the Yankees stand point, but there is no way any NL team would take Giambi, it makes no sense with the guy breaking down the way he has the last couple seasons. I'm afraid we're stuck with him. |

Are you willing to pay $10 million a year for him to play for the A's? |

:serious: On the first trade you came up with, why would Cincy trade Casey to open up 1B for Griffey? Casey is batting about .340 and is younger than Griff. If you take away the fact that he's "Ken Griffey Jr." and that he plays CF, a .230 hitter who is plagued by leg injuries isn't drool worthy. With his leg problems, moving from the OF won't cure that. He still has to run the bases and we've seen him get hurt doing that and at 1B, he'd have to stretch and split to scoop some bad throws. I'm sure he'd get hurt doing that. Sean Casey is having a great season, is about 5 or 6 years younger, is signed through next season, and is actually a first baseman (don't overlook that. look at Piazza). |

Moving Griffey to 1st isn't my idea. The Reds are considering it because of his continual injuries. If that is the case, they have no room for Casey, who will be a FA after next season. |
