From today's Daily News:

COME BACK, SHANE? Yanks GM Brian Cashman called Shane Spencer's agent yesterday to see if Spencer, released by the Mets after a DUI arrest, would be interested in providing some outfield insurance for the Yanks by playing at Triple-A Columbus. "I had a brief discussion with (Jim) Krivacs," Cashman said. "He's going to talk to Shane and I'm going to get back to him."

Spencer played for the Yanks from 1998-2002.

I'd like to see him signed as insurance. He can not only play the corner outfield positions as he did when he was here, but he played a couple of games in center for the Mets this year. It would give them a nice option if one of the outfielders goes down. He's not an everyday player, but I really like him off the bench in the role the Mets used him. I always liked Shane and would like to see his return, perhaps also as a backup for next season.

Tell Shane to take a hike.

Grumpy ol' man. :mm: Everyone makes mistakes! Give him a break...

He would be excellent insurance for our outfield in case of injury.

I'm old (45), but not grumpy. :D

When you meet me, you'll think I'm in my 20's. :weights:

You know what I was thinking the other day. On the last board someone made a thread about "What would you do if your best friend was traded to the enemy(Boston Red Sox). Its funny that it actually happened to someone here.
