Just looking at Olerud's career numbers...

An what jumps out at me is he is only a 2 time All Star...Now I know the fans are idiots....but the man hit .354 for the Mets in 1998 and was not an All-Star...plus the 3 Gold Gloves are nice....but I could swear he'd have 5-7 ...he was really that good...
If he stays healthy and on a good team he could approach 1400 RBI which is an exceptional number...he's got 1200 now...I beleive there is only 1 player w/ 1500 RBI that is not in the HOF -Tony Perez...That may have changed over the years....

That surprised me too. I can't believe he wasn't an allstar in '98. :wtf:

You can never really count on fans to make the right call though, I mean, Nomar was the leading vote getter at SS for a while this season and he hadn't even played a game.

Perez was voted in about 5 years ago. He complained for so long that they finally let him in.

Yeah that's right he did get in....They used to use that stat on him ...1500 RBI...Jim Rice as well..

There's a reason he wasn't voted in as a starter in '98. That was McGwire's 70 HR season, and people dig the long ball.
