I'm shocked by the response so far on their website. Jeter with 66%. I would have thought people would have selected Sheff. That would be my choice.

People remember highlight reels. They remember the "The Flip" and "The Play II" and the "See ya, see ya, see ya". But I'm surprised Posada has nothing. They don't remember the clutch hustle double off Pedro?

You put Deki ahead of Jeter? With Matsui, it all depends on whether he's hot or not.

He's been more clutch than Posada, A-Rod, Bernie, and friends.

Bernie's gotta be up there. He's done it before and I still trust him in a clutch spot in the post season. He's the only .250 hitter (maybe Olerud) that I'd trust to come through in that situation.

MM, Cairo has been a great contact hitter for us. Have you forgotten the Red Sox game?

I said I love Miggy, but I wouldn't have him in the top 5 in an RBI sitch.

With Cairo, you know he's not going to strike out or GIDP with the game on the line. Something Posada and Bernie do a lot of.

Cairo will go up there and foul off 6 pitches and find a way to get a hit, or get a sac fly, or advance the runners.

I think that's about right. You could switch Bernie and Jorge, that's about it though.

Me too. You don't have to blow me though, unless your name is Cotterpin.

In all seriousness, Sheff doesn't seem to be getting any better shoulder wise. If you asked me right now I would go with Jeter or Matsui, but Sheff will be getting the cortizone shot which will force him to shut down for at least three days so I would pick Sheff come the playoffs, but I'm not voting as of now.

In regards to this question, I would want.

1. Sheffield (Regardless of the shoulder injury)
2. Matsui
3. Cairo (not in the poll)
4. Jeter
5. Posada
6. A-Rod

Posada over Jeter? And how does A-Rod make the top 5? He's under .220 with RISP.

I don't want A-Rod anywhere near the plate with runners on.

That's how I got it. The fact that Sheff can also draw the walks is very nice. I don't have confidence in ARod with runners in scoring position. He takes these wide looping swings, often missing or striking out. I know he has power, but a sure thing ARod is NOT.... :dunno:

I edited my answer, amit. Jeter then Posada. I had to really think about who would come through in the clutch.

I was only answering a poll question.

I know not too many people would consider him numbr one(I wouldn't either) but Cairo doesn't strike out. If there is one out, you can count on him to make contact.
