Well reading each plan for the 2005 season I realized how much we as fans would like a change and how easy it is via free agency. Signing Mags or Delgado would be a huge move. With our front office and its history of messing up free agent signings what makes you think we will sign a superstar. Wilpon just refuses to dish out the cash and we always hear the excuse "we don't want to get burned like the Vaughns and Alomars in the past". The bottom line is that the Mets just don't do what it takes to sign the big names in the market. I would be very suprised to see Mags or Delgado or any other big name wearing the Mets uniform next season.

Great point.

Last October:

"Who would you prefer? Sheffield or Vlad? The mets have cut around 50M in payroll, they're guaranteed to sign one of thw two superstars."

Who do the mets end up with?

Karim f*cking Garcia!

yes, he is cheap. You fail to mention that he generates more money than 90% of the owners.

i think wilpon is somwhat cheap but his main problem is signing the right players, the mets the last 3 years have made bad baseball decisions, wilpon spent 120 million on the mets in 2002 and where they that get them, nowhere, the mets need to start spending their money wisely, that is the key!!!

the GM makes important decision but the owner of any team has final say, phillips sucked and deserved alot of the sh*t he got but wilpon gave the ok on alot of the of the deals and trades that phillips made, wilpon has to take a hit too for the way this team was built!!!
