offseason plan: make some trades, trade floyd to an american league team like the white sox get something good not great in return, trade trachsel to an american league team like the rangers who have been interested in trachsel before and get something pretty good in return for him! mike stanton has one more year remaining on his contract, try to deal him away to a team that needs a lefty, pay some of his contract, do whatever it takes to get this a-hole off the team! ok now that i got the trades out of the way it's time for the free agent signings, first you have to get magglio ordonez, that is target #1, after that you have to go after a pitcher since trachsel was traded so go after and get carl pavano, slot him as our #3 starter! ok now that you have the 2 big signings out of the way the mets have to go after some mid-level free agents, floyd has been traded and hidalgo will not be re-signed, they got magglio but they still need a power lefty bat so go out and get j.d. drew who has proven if healthy he is an excellent hitter! stanton is gone so the mets need a lefty, they must sign steve kline who is having a great season this year, this should be an easy signing! lastly piazza makes the situation hard for the mets to choose between a 1st baseman or a catcher but since duke said in an interview with joe beningo that piazza was going to be a 1st baseman i think the mets will go after a catcher in the offseason and the best catcher available is jason varitek, sign him and the offseason plan will be a successful one!!!

starting lineup:

1. jose reyes
2. kaz matsui
3. david wright
4. magglio ordonez
5. j.d. drew
6. mike piazza

mike stanton has one more year remaining on his contract, try to deal him away to a team that needs a lefty, pay some of his contract, do whatever it takes to get this a-hole off the team!

It might be tough getting Stanton to waive his no-trade clause. He insisted on it so he didn't have to move his kids out of the NY area.

Your off-season plan has an unrealistic amount of holes.

1. If we sign Varitek you'er all f*ckin fired. HE IS A CAREER .242 HITTER ON THE ROAD. A BUST WAITING TO HAPPEN.

2. JD Drew didnt wanna play in Philly, he wont want to play in NY, hes a midwest Guy and he'll probablt stay in the ATL

3. Stanton has a blanket no trade (Phillips), hes not moving

4. You better get somethnig if you trade Floyd.

5. Like it or not Trachsel is alot more proven than Pavano, for a 5th starter dont risk it, take Trachsel, he'll but up an ERA under 4.00 all you can ask from a #5.

Ill get you a more realistic plan later

350 please, varitek might hit lower on the road but his power and rbi numbers are the same, when was the last time the braves signed one of their own free agents, money talks and bullsh*t walks, the braves are not going to re-sign him, drew will go where the money is! i heard that stanton has a limited no-trade clause but if it is a full no-trade then just release him, he doesn't get paid that much anyway, you act like the mets are going to trade a 5 time all-star, floyd is injury prone and is having an ok season at best, the mets can get something good maybe but not great for him! the mets can get something of value for trachsel, he is not that good of a pitcher and the mets can sign a young up and coming pitcher like pavano, he has proven he can pitch in big games (playoffs, world series last year), trachsel hasn't proven sh*t so f*ck him and f*ck you, my plan is a good one!!! :peace:

Yeah, I know. That's what a GM will do when he knows that he'll be long gone by the time the contract ends.

the same team with a healthy reyes, adjusted matsui, adjusted wright, healthy cameron, a phillips who is over his sophmore slump and the new rotation could do some damage

so every time a poster decides to make their own ideas heard about the off season he should start a new thread?

Yes, if they are their own plans.

Let everyone make a thread outlining their plans. it will make it easier to discuss individually.

The only time it makes sense to merge threads is when the same piece of information has been posted twice.

If the Mets sign Varitek, people will die. I dont care if his power is the sme, i never said it wasnt. He hits in Fenway bc/ its a band box. Another .240 hitter will destroy this lineup

And if JD Drew didnt wanna play in Philly he aint playing in NY, get over it.

And also Trachsel doesnt suck

right, although I'm not sure if Varitek can be worse than what we currently have.

right, JD Drew won't be going anywhere. He has matured and likes it in Atlanta.

right, Trax has been consistant for a long time now. BUT, trading him and in order to pave the way for a Pavano would not be a bad idea.

Drew also isnt going anywhere because he is from Lowndes, Georgia and people down there despise the North (They still havent gotten over the Civil War) no way he comes anywhere near the Mason-Dixon Line

look i know there's a good chance drew might stay in atlanta but you never know, the braves never re-sign their own free agents and if the mets offer him some good money i think he'd be willing to play in new york!!!
