I will not complain about Vazquez. I still consider him to be a bit overrated, but tonight he gave a good effort. I don't like the fact he served up that three-run bomb to Delgado in the first, and stuff like that can't happen in the playoffs. But Vaz settled down after that and pitched a good game, so I'll give him credit for that.

He looked like a much different pitcher after the home run. Maybe he can build off this start.

He needs to hang out with Kevin Brown a little more. Brown is a nut case, but he battles on the mound.

We need these pitchers to start going deep into games and give the bullpen (especially Quantrill, Flash and Mo) some much needed rest. The last two games is just what the doctor ordered. Brown and Vazquez came up big for us the last two games. Lets hope the trend continues. Very nice to see Javy settled down and dominated after a rough 1st inning.

Yup, I thought it was going to be another rough night for Vazquez after the first inning. Luckily he got pissed off, buckled down and gave us 8 innings. Couldn't have picked a better time for one of his best outings of the season. Like I said, hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Sometimes all takes for a guy is one wake up call, maybe that home run to Delgado was it.

Its not like he just threw one right over the plate. Javy and Torre both said that the pitch he threw wasn't a bad pitch(low and away). Delgado is just a good hitter.
