It's possible the M's were going to trade him to the Yankees, but Boston blocked it, and made a deal of their own.

I was thinking the same thing. They might just have tried to pass him through waivers, Boston put in a claim, and they worked out a deal. Who knows.

Anyway, .258 against lefties this year. Not too impressive.

If the Yankees were trying to deal for him and Boston blocked him from going through waivers, how would the so-called "Ice Cream Boy" have fallen asleep at the wheel? Is it a bad thing that his team is ahead of Boston in the standings by 9.5 games, hence giving Boston the right to block a player from the Yankees via a wire claim?

A waste of time. Myers hasn't been a quality lefty specialist for a couple of years, and he's still getting destroyed by right-handers despite using a new delivery against them this year. Red Sox GM Theo Epstein just isn't looking so great these days.

That's what Rotoworld had to say about the deal.

didnt see this, Kocur, if the Sox claimed Myers there isnt anything Cashman could do about it.

If an American league player is named his name goes through the American league and the team with te worst record that puts a claim in is the only team hed be traded to.

This was cagey Cashman's master plan. He'd pass a really shitty lefty like Myers through waivers hoping Boston would fall for it and claim him. Now that Boston has shot their load and is stuck with Myers, now you'll see Cash's real trade! Very tricky. He must be consulting with MM!!

Mike Myers ain't worth sh*t,The only best move that happened today was when Larry Walker got traded to The Cards, for 3 Minor Leaguers.
