I think this will put the Celtics over the top. That Danny Ainge is brilliant!

GP has been on 4 teams since 2003.

Payton and Fox have expiring contracts. That was Ainge's motivation.

Oh.

But I'm still trying to figure out the LaFrentz deal. Raef isn't the center you build a team around and he has a big ass contract. Walker is Walker and you can't blame Ainge for dumping him, but why LaFrentz?

I haven't figured out why Raef either.

Strange but the Celts got Banks back because Payton refused to report for the physican, therefore it was waived.

The trade is happening. It's now better for Boston. They got Banks back, sent LA Jones, and don't have to give up their 2nd round pick anymore. They're probably glad Payton didn't report for his physical.

I had a feeling GP would bitch about this. He's one of those people with an inflated sense of self-worth (yeah, but I deserve to) and he was probably "offended" by the trade. As Jaime "Coach Dodiddly" Foxx said at the ESPY's, "The Glove huh? That sumbitch must have had a hole in it last year!"

But what happens with Payton now? He's still a Laker, but the team doesn't want him and I think that he'd be obligated to report to the physical. What comes of this?

If he refuses to show up?

They expect him to show up for training camp. They had a feeling he wouldn't show up for the physical, so the teams had the backup deal ironed out beforehand. They still think he'll play for Boston this year.
