"Brian would like to go to Boston and win the World Series," Mary Cashman told New York Magazine. "That would be any man's dream, to go up there and become the god of Boston. But I don't think that will happen."

Informed during the middle of a 5-1 Yankees victory over the A's at Yankee Stadium that the magazine story was out, George Steinbrenner was annoyed. However, he did not comment on the touchy subject.

It was his dumb wife who said that. Maybe she'd like to join Laura Pettitte in Houston <_<

Cashman's quotes in the magazine story were mild, but yesterday he said the magazine upset Mary, who isn't used to dealing with the media.

"I'm just concentrating on trying to win a championship here," Cashman says in the article. "If I have to try to win championships elsewhere, I'll worry about that at another time."

Don't jump to conclusions.

You guys are overreacting to nothing. Epstein is the GM up there. It's not changing, an Cashman did not come out and say I want to go to Boston. Chill.

Don't jump to conclusions.

They should use the "Jump to Conclusions" mat that Tom Smykowski invented.

Tom Smykowski: I call it... the "Jump to Conclusions" mat. It's got different conclusions written on it... THAT YOU CAN JUMP TO!

Michael: That's the worst idea ever.

Samir: Yes, yes, it's horrible... this idea.

My reaction: Rumors.

And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire.

Did you guys even read the article? 473 quoted the part he'd like to fool you all with. YFF, you changed your opinion of Cashman based on that? Try reading the whole article.

Eureka! Now I understand, Kocur. You teach kids a whole new way of thinking... What a relief knowing the fate of the next generation is in your capable hands.

btw/ thanks for illuminating Matt23. You have such a distinctive way of expressing yourself. No doubt you learned it at Yale. :serious:

Yeah, I'm really impressed that this guy teaches children. Actually I don't believe it since he's constantly online, including during the school year, but if he does, it is scary.

Even though this whole situation is probably being blown WAY out of proportion, I still say let his ass go to Boston if he wants. We'll take Mr. Epstein in return. That'd be fair. He could do a hell of a lot more with $183 mil than Ice Cream man did this season anyway. :peace:

He took it up the ass from Colangelo to get Schilling. I don't see Cashman willing to make that kind of sacrifice to help the Yankees.

What makes Epstein great? Probably the fact he's always a step ahead of other GMs, always working the phones, always has a back up plan if he doesn't get the guy he wants. Always looking to make improvements. The Sox' defense was a disgrace, and Nomar was disgruntled and bringing down clubhouse morale. So Epstein improved the defense and probably made things a little easier by dealing away a pissed off player. Meanwhile Cashman sits on his ass, doesn't get a good lefty reliever and ends up with Loaiza for Contreras. A very slight upgrade.

Epstein is a better GM.

He got Mike Meyers and Jeff Suppan last year. :serious:

If Cashman did that, you'd all crucify him.

He's made some bad moves, but the good ones far out weigh the bad. Meanwhile, Cashman is making deals for Vazquez instead of Schilling and Loaiza instead of Garcia or RJ. Keeping guys like Heredia around way too long. Get him out of here. If he really does want to go to Boston, by all means go, please.

He is far better than Cashman. I would love if they switched it up and Epstein came here and Cashman went to Beantown. Epstein could do so much more with George's money.
