The Red Sox ended up with Dave Roberts to fill their outfield void caused by the lingering quad problems of Trot Nixon, but near then end of the week had a deal in place that would have brought them Eric Valent from the Mets for minor league starter Beau Vaughn. Problem is, Valent hit for the cycle Thursday and the Mets reneged on the deal.

I really like Valent, I think should he be given a full chance he could hit about .280 with 15-20 homers and 70-80 rbis, not too shabby

Bc/ hes a utility player, hes a good pinch hitter who, if he played eve3ryday would hit more like .267 with 13 Hr's

If Spencer wasnt such a drunk, this would've been a good treade for the Mets.

Vaughn is in medium A-Ball in 12 games hes pitch 65.1 innings (5.4 per start) with 7-1 record 2.48 ERA and averages a K per inning.

Not bad for a utility player
