After 34 days of negotiations that took several twists and turns, the Knicks and Bulls finally consummated a six-player trade that sends Jamal Crawford to New York on Thursday afternoon.

Crawford signed a seven-year, $55.4 million contract that still needs to clear the NBA league office. But he and Jerome Williams will go to New York in exchange for Dikembe Mutombo, Othella Harrington, Frank Williams and Cezary Trybanski.

"I'm excited," Crawford said by phone from Seattle. "It's been rough because it was supposed to go through a few times. But I'm looking forward to a new challenge."

Yeah, I saw how much you cared about the Knicks when they were in the playoffs. Didn't even watch the games.

Especially with Ailing Houston on the bench.

Houston is probably gonna be the starter. Unless he's hurt and/or Crawford blows minds in training camp and pre season, 20 is going to start. I'm curious to see how that goes. I get the feeling that Crawford wants to (ofcourse) and maybe expects to start. :dunno: Better to have surplus.

From what I've heard, Houston might not even be with the Knicks to start the season and may never be the same player again, because he had microfracture surgery. It's speculation, but it's a possibility that he's not the same 20 ppg starter and might only be a good player off the bench.

With his bad knees I think Houston would make a great 6th Man. Our bence could be really good if we get Dampier for the MLE, that way Sweetney or KT is on the bench with Penny, Baker, Anderson, and Williams. Not Bad

Good points.

Separate thought: I'm listening to the press conference and Jamal Crawford said that he and Jerome are willing to come off the bench and add depth to the team. I've been saying that he'd probably want to start and might bitch if he doesn't, but I was wrong. Unless he's just giving the fans/media "press conference bull".

Allan Houston is the new Steve Smith.

Allan Houston is Rick Barry in his prime. Except with 3 pointers. Show some respect!

I was thinking Dell Curry or Glen Rice....but Steve Smith works...

What the f*ck is this? Now H20 compares to Steve Smith all of a sudden? Houston was always a better player than Smith. Rice was never as fast as H20, though he was damn good and a better player in his prime. But in all seriousness, I expect AT LEAST 16 ppg from Allan.

16 PPG is pushing it, ill be happy with 10 and a lot of moral support for his replacement

That's fair. And btw, I'm happy to hear that Crawford and JYD are willing to make concessions for the good of the team. That's the right attitude and we need more of that on the Knicks.

10 ppg from Allan Houston? Its not as if he's a slasher. He does sh*t else but shoot jumpshots. Unless the knee starts bothering him again, he should still be able to knock down his open jumpers. I'm expecting atleast 15 ppg from him. The man averaged 22 in '03 and was having a good season (20 ppg, great 3 point %) before he got hurt. Jason Kidd had knee surgery and he's getting up there in age (2 years younger than Houston), are we to expect him to become Darrell Armstrong?

With the team Kidd has around him this year... yea I wouldnt be surprised. But thats off topic. Anyway I think Allan is all but done, I would rather him be more of a spiritual leader than anything else
