Im sure there was alot of crying over his first inning, and nevermind the bloop single that scored 2 runs, he only had problems bc/ his Sinker was in the dirt not at the knees. Other than that for the most part when he mises he misses around the edges of the plate. His stuff looks great, half their lineup cant touch his curveball. |

yes i was pissed about the first inning but he has pitched great since then, those 3 runs might not have even scored if valent would have thrown the ball correctly to the cutoff man!!! |

remember zambrano got one of the hitters to hit a ground ball that would have easily been a double play but because of valent's throw jenkins went to second and the mets could only get that one out at first base!!! |

He pitched between 6.2 and 7.2 innings of baseball today with how bad the defense has been. |

your right, if the defense was playing the game he would have had a master piece. nobody could touch his pitches and got a lot of swings and misses. |

and he got a lot of ground balls, which means his sinker was working. |

Zambrano had a good game, but I still think it's a huge stretch to say that he's going to be an ace. |

i think he can be a solid #2 if he can get his stuff controlled!!! |

Mo Vaughn can hit 35+ homeruns if he can get his weight under control. Shawn Estes can be a solid middle of the rotation starter if he just learns how to throw strikes. Cliff Floyd can hit 35 homeruns if he can ever stay healthy. Richard Hidalgo can hit like he did in 2000 if he stops trying to pull everything. Rey Ordonez can be an above average hitter if he just learns how to be patient at the plate. Art Howe can be a Manager of the year candidate if he could ever stay awake. We've all been through years of hearing this stuff. When do we stop believing what the mets front office tells us? |

tool there's if's with every player and every game, if timo perez could have been safe at home instead of being thrown out cause he was staring at zeile's fly ball the mets could have won game 1 of the 2000 world series and so on and so on, even with bad control zambrano is still a good pitcher! some pitchers have to be molded and can still learn you to pitch and/or adjust and become an even better with time, give zambrano a chance, i didn't like the kazmir trade either but it happened and now it's time to see what this guy has, oh and by the way blow me!!! :peace: |

Great post. It's fun to think, "yeah, anything can happen", but the most realistic scenario is Zambrano is no better than a #3 pitcher. That's not a bad thing, but a lot to give up Kazmir for. :peace: |

now that is true no doubt, i didn't want the mets to trade kazmir at all but the trade has happened, tool's just mad cause with timo perez playing for the white sox now and floyd playing like sh*t he doesn't have a favorite player anymore, what a shame!!! :smirk: |

well right now he has the best stuff on the team and that is not an IF. so he is a number 2 whether or not he can control his ball. i mean he has 10 wins now and 9 came with the devil rays. so he proves he can win. and becoming an ace isn't out of the question. |

Can I get one person to disagree with this statement: If the Mets defense wasnt atrocious this afternoon Zambrano would've pitched 6.2-7.2 innings giving up 3 ER's. Will anyone disagree with that? (If you do, thn you didnt see the game) Therefore I have to point to his IP/BB ratio, which was about 1.8/1 Its not a f*cking coincidence that he dominated after the 1st inning |

It doesnt matter, his next start is against Houston and if his IP/BB ratio is 2-1 he'll dominate that game too |

I'd like to see his start against the Astros. That team has a very good offense. One thing I was very impressed about was that breaking ball of his. That really breaks hard. Vance Wilson had a real workout today. |
