He was a stopper. He stopped the mediocrity - all out bullsh*t that we had been seeing from our starters. It might start up again tomorrow, but Kevin did his part. You a-holes better hop back on that bandwagon. Kiss this man's ass.

If you didn't see the game, it was 8 innings, 0 runs, 7 strikeouts.

I've always defending Brown, especially when YF03 kept saying he sucked. :serious:

If this guy is healthy, watch out.

I wonder what YF03 will bitch about today?

He may not even show up today, since the Yankees won and Brown pitched lights out.

Sheffield didn't hit a home run. What a soft player.

The boxscore indicated he did, but that doesn't give me a real feel for how he looked. There could have been great plays in the field to bail him out, he could have dominated on his own, there are several possibilties.

I missed the game because I was at work, but nothing to bitch about today. :peace:

Brown pitched well. If he's healthy he's awesome, I've said that before. Right now it's him and Duque who are the only two starters I'd trust in a big game. Hopefully they stay healthy the rest of the way.

Great plays in the field? You know what I'm thinking and I know what you'll say (if you bother to reply).

Our defense has been mediocre and we're among the leaders in errors (made 2 more yesterday). Our outfield defense has been terrible and its rare that one of them makes a great play to bail out a pitcher. Jeter has been steady at SS, A-Rod has been spectacular at times at 3B, our 2B have made some nice plays, Olerud is a Gold Glover (stole it from Mientkiewicz'), but overall, we don't have much range and we make more errors than you like to see.

OK, but maybe you missed the point on why I asked for more of a feel for the game. I was at work all day, in and out of meetings, including a 2 hour lunch meeting at a restaurant, and therefore had NO FEEL for the game whatsoever (no radio, no TV, no Internet, no updates from anyone). I logged on, saw people saying he pitched like an ace, and hadn't even checked the boxscore yet. I don't give a sh*t if you don't think the D has been good this year. That doesn't mean their fielders can't make a great play to help dictate the way the starting pitcher performs. Wilson didn't make a great play 2 games ago? Jeter didn't make a great play into the stands against Boston? Someday when you're all grown up and have a full-time job with perhaps a lot of overtime, you will understand what it's like to not have any idea what is going on in a few games a year.

People on these boards analyze and discuss every single little thing in every single game. I wanted some details on how he pitched, thought it I asked I would get a few responses, and got nothing back. Sorry for thinking some of you guys would be able to help me get a feel for the game. It's ok, I read up on it later on after work, and watched part of it on Encore. I have my feel now.

There are usually some day games in April. School forces me to miss those. And I'm 19 in 5 weeks. I'm a man.

You first said that you assumed he pitched well. I assumed that you didn't see the game and I posted the "8 IP, 0 R, 7 K". You then said that you didn't have a feel because you didn't see it and it was possible that the fielders made some great plays to save him. That didn't happen and 1/2 jokingly, I said "great defensive plays?" I know that they've made some spectacular plays -- was the Enrique play on Web Gems? -- but overall, we're not a good fielding team. They've cost pitchers a lot with their screw-ups in the field. Bernie was in center. I know what you mean and I understand what you're criticizing, but you have to learn to not take everything I say too seriously. I know that even the 2002 Mets made some great plays to bail pitchers out sometimes. As I said, I was 1/2 joking.

But I'm glad you got your "feel".
