Yeah, yeah. That's what they said about Piazza moving to first base last year.

It's quite obvious that if things stay the way they are now, the Mets will move Kaz to 2b.....going by the things I've read and heard coming right from Howe and Duquette.

Dukey and Howe haven't made any promises.

Of course they haven't! You actually think they're going to publicly say "Yes, we're definitely moving Kaz next year."?

Of course not. But going by the hints they've been dropping it looks like there's a pretty good chance of it.

This is a f*ckin result oriented business. You're supposed to be trying to win, not trying to stop a player from crying.

yes but it's an act of good faith, it shows that the mets are a class organization and they will do what's right for the players, those kind of things attracts free agents!!!

champ....you can't go and promise a guy a position for this season and then move him in August.

Kaz signed here on the condition he'd play SS at least this season. I give the Mets credit for not going back on their word.

Next season is a different story. If there wasn't any chance of a move, Howe and Duquette wouldn't be dropping hints like this. They'd be stating that Kaz will remain at SS and they don't plan on ever changing anything.

I give the Mets absolutely no credit for sticking with the promise. It is absolutely cowardly. The aim is to win and if moving Kaz to 2nd helps accomplish that, then it should be done. There is no clause in Kaz's contract that mandates that he must play short, so the Mets are just acting stupid. This organization is considered a joke around the league, and this a great example why.

I agree, that's basically what Dukey's and Howe's words are: Inane Blabber.

It is pretty damn obvious that Kaz should never be allowed to play another game at short when Reyes is playing in the same game on the same team. Only the Mets would allow themselves to be shortchanged like this. If the Mets were a good team, I can see why Kaz should be allowed to remain at SS for the remainder of the season, but they're not and Kaz at SS only handicaps them further.

The transition from SS to second base is overrated in how tough it is. It is extremely easy, with the exception of turning the double play, which with time it can be done. Matsui has everything a second basemen needs. It would not take him long to adjust so I would be all for moving him over this year. Don't forget our defense is worst in the league. This would help it tremendously.

it really isnt that easy, i used to play short a little during an all star game the coach moved me to 2nd i made two errors, the ball looks completly different comming of the bat and the dp is harder to turn from that side

I presently play short for my travel team but I play second for my school team. If you can field a ground ball all in all you should be fine with the position switch. Also you have to be mentally smart knowing when to cover first and the cut offs.

Bottom line: if you're a great player (like Reyes) a transition is simple.

If you have his skill, you can do it easily.

Matsui can make the switch, he has good range and thats teh most important thing for the middle infield.

It might take some time to get used to the angle of the ball, but thats Spring Training

If you were a Free Agent SS and the team you signed with promised you they would move their current SS for you only 4 months later they renege on what they said and shift your ass to 2B, a position you've probably never played.

That would piss anyone off
