You know what, he's got guts and he's going to give us 6 innings on his worst day. We can always expect 6-8 innings out of this cat, I think he's gone at least 6 innings in 19 of 22 starts. Tonight, he must have had the butterflies churning like crazy. He was hitting his spots at times, but many other times missing. If not for the base on balls those would have been a much better start. I think we are going to like this guy a lot. I have a lot of faith that he's going to show big balls and handle things well. I like how he finished the game with a solid 6th inning. I'm looking foward to the starts he has from here on out. Estaban Loaiza is officialy "my boy" He's on the list ladies and gentlemen, bye bye Jose C, there's a new Sherfi in town. |

His problem today was the walks, the hit batter, and him not covering 1B on what should have been an inning ending DP. He usually has a lot better control, and you assume that he would normally get to 1st on that ball. It's not like he got smacked around with doubles and triples into the gaps. His 1st start and I think he was nervous, he wasn't hitting his spots consistently, he would be perfect with 1 hitter, then he would fall behind 3-0 to the next hitter. Not a good start today, but we have to see what he does over 3 or 4 starts before we judge him. |
