Picnic Delays Crawford Deal

Quote:

It's been five weeks of tedious negotiations, so what was another day.

Agent Aaron Goodwin confirmed the Knicks and Bulls agreed on a sign-and-trade deal yesterday in what is believed to be a six-player package that will make combo guard Jamal Crawford and rebounding forward Jerome Williams Knicks as soon as today.

The only holdup is working through the details of Crawford's estimated six-year, $55 million contract, regarding trade kickers, incentives and physicals.

"There's a deal on the table," Goodwin said. "Barring something unusual, we should have something [today]."

Knicks Get Closer To Crawford

Quote:

The Knicks finally may be getting Jamal Crawford and perhaps the short end of a long-anticipated trade as well.

A deal that would bring Crawford to New York could be finalized as early as today, according to Aaron Goodwin, who represents the Bulls' free-agent guard. Goodwin, Chicago GM John Paxson and Knicks president Isiah Thomas were still working out details of Crawford's contract, which could be worth $56 million over seven years.

"There are still some things we're working on," Goodwin said. "I think it could happen (today)."

The Knicks would acquire Crawford as well as veteran forward Jerome Williams while the Bulls would be getting what they've coveted all along: four players in the final year of their contracts.

Kudos to anyone who thinks that amount over that period of time rings a bell. Anyone know or want to make a guess?

Shandon Anderson?

No, offhand I think Shandon's is 7 years for $49 million. Ugh, I just threw up in my mouth.

Actually, it was a good signing that turned into a bad one once a new contract was negotiated. That'll probably give it away.

Houston's FIRST contract with the Knicks was for 7 years, $56 million. Obviously we all know about the $100 million disaster. He opted out of his first contract and for some reason the Knicks maxed him out, even though no other teams could get close to that amount.

Look at the hint I gave:

Right, but no other team could've offered Houston $100 million. At best, a team like the Pistons could've offered something like $75 or $85 million. You can always max your own player higher than another team can. Layden bid against himself.

I knew that a team can always offer the most. Layden was such a dumbass, he shoulda just let Houston walk or given him 1 million more than the most another team could of offered. Layden was the only GM who was dumb enough to bid against himself

In the NBA maybe, but Glen Sather also bid against himself in order to get MEssier back. NY GMs in general, always seem to big against themselves.
