this is why i would like to trade piazza. b/c we need a good defensive 1st baseman who can hit. and i seriously wouldn't mind vance wiilson catching everyday, and sign a veteran back up so the mets don't need jason phillips. but vance wilson is a great defensive catcher and can hit .270 10hr 60 rbi in a full season and with his defense i think it's worth it. adn if we can get a first baseman who can play very good defense that can hit .280 30hr 100 rbi this team will be good.

lol i strongly disagree with you on this, the met fans were saying that last season and look at what vance did with the playing time he had (nothing), vance is not a starting catcher and never will be, piazza has one year left on his contract so lets see how he does! if mike can get it together then they can just let him sign with another team but if he comes back strong then they'll re-sign him, do not overrate wilson cause that's a big mistake!!! :peace:

maybe it is, but i think b/c of the defense the mets could be better if they replace piazza.

yeah you would, eventually.

Vance will make a 10 year career of backing up and hitting .280 a year

But if he started and played everyday he'd hit between .230 and.250 w. 5-7 HR"S

mike's defense isn't great but vance hasn't been that great either this season, come on vance is just a little better then phillips and that doesn't say much!!!

vance wilson's arm is one of the strongest and most accurate in teh league. i would say behind brian schnider and mike matheny in the NL. he is a lot better than phillips.

Wilson's a solid back-up catcher, comparable to Todd Pratt.

Great guy to back-up Piazza.

vance is batting .280 and phillips is hitting .210 and add in vance wilson's better defense and you have vance wilson being a much better player.

I would mind. I'd rather have a solid defensive catcher that can hit (perhaps jason varitek?) than a defensive specialist.

phillips has played more then wilson, if wilson played as much as phillips his average would be around .230 just like last year!!!
