team record: 0-2 Game 1: lost 94-73 Stars in game: Ariza 22pts, 6rbs (2 off), 1 ast, 1 blk, 3 stls, 36 min Sweetney 12 pts, 5 rbs, 35 min, 7tos, 8fouls Dermarr 9 pts, 4 rbs Game 2: lost 104-100 Stars in game: Sweetney 27 pts, 9 rbs (6 offensive rebounds), 3 asts Ariza: 21 pts, 6 rbs, 3 asts, 3 stls Brent Wright: 10 pts, 5 rbs Dermarr: 11 pts, 5 rbs, 1 ast, 1 stl Barrett: 11 pts, 2 rbs, 3 asts, 5 stls Leaders: Ariza 21 pts/gm 6 rbs/gm, 3 asts/gm, 3 stls/gm Sweetney: 19.5 pts/gm, 7rbs/gm, 2asts/gm 7.5 TOs/gm Dermarr 10 pts/gm Analysis: Ariza and Sweetney have shown that they can be a cornerstone to the Knicks future. Ariza is developing into a great playmaker during the past 2 games. He has shown he can be a great transition player who can finish the break with dunks, can rebound better than TT ever has  , and is a great perimeter defender who can lead to fast breaks. Once he gains some strength, cuts down on the turnovers, and develops more range on the perimeter, he may someday be a great player in the NBA and a steal for the Knicks. Sweetney has become a great inside post player the past 2 games and continues to grab the boards. He's progressively developing into the next Elton Brand. All he needs to do is to develop more post up moves and a mid range perimeter shot, staying in shape and getting stronger, and not get foolish fouls and cause foolish turnovers. In the end, these two players will eventually be great players for the Knicks. As for the other players, Dermarr has not shined, but has played exceptionally well for the Knicks. We haven't seen the other players yet, but we hope to see ZACH Marbury score some points finally and the other streetball player (please tell me the name; the guy on the Terror Sqaud EBC/streetball team) plus Barrett, Ales Chan, and the other players improve in the next couple games |

What's the foul out rule for Summer League? Sweetney had 8 fouls in game 1. I like what I saw from last season. He made some nice agile moves around the basket last season. Remember the up & under reverse lay-ups we saw? The dunks in traffic. I like him. I still think that he needs to lose more weight and get more toned. He's "girthy" and that helps him in the post, but it has to hurt his stamina. If he can drop down to about 240, he'll be good. |
