Knicks And Nets News

Quote:

Trader Isiah Thomas is juggling names and numbers once again with an offer to the Chicago Bulls for restricted free- agent guard Jamal Crawford that could include up to nine players. The face of the Nets could change, too, unless new owner Bruce Ratner forks over major money to match whichever offer All-Star forward Kenyon Martin decides to take.

Since Thomas replaced Scott Layden as president of the Knicks in December, he has shuffled the roster like a deck of cards. According to an NBA source, Thomas has a new deal on the table that would send Shandon Anderson, Moochie Norris and the expiring contracts of Frank Williams, Othella Harrington and Cezary Trybanski to the Bulls for Crawford, Jerome Williams, Eddie Robinson and Chris Jeffries.

Knicks backup center Dikembe Mutombo has been mentioned in some reports, but he's not part of the latest offer. In the past year, Mutombo has threatened to retire rather than move again.

i'd do that trade, get shandon anderson and moochie norris out of my f*cking face, they both suck!!!

As much as we want to dump Shandon and Moochie, we're taking back some bad contracts. I guess the money is even, but I don't know how long Junk Yard and Eddie's contracts are. Jerome Williams is a good defender and I like that, but I don't want to be stuck with contracts that expire in 2008.

As for the Dikembe thing, I've always wondered if it was possible for a team and an aging player to have a sneaky agreement for him to be traded, then retire. For example, a veteran decides that he wants to hang 'em up, but before making it public, the GM approaches him and says, "We've been good to you and there's a mutual adoration. How about you help us out one more time. We'll trade you to ____ and get something in return, then you retire before playing a game and give the 'I just don't want to do it anymore. Its nothing physical, its that these last few days, I've been thinking about going home to be with my family." I know that its wrong and that there might be restrictions that would prevent it, but I've never heard of any of them. If there are no rules, then Deke should have just kept his damn mouth shut and give us something to work with.

I'd hate to lose Frank, but if he is needed to lose Shandon and Moochie, I agree, I'd do it in f*ckin heartbeat. Shandon and Moochie are fundamentally the two worst players in the league.

We want Crawford but we're gonna be taking some more head scratching/head shaking contracts. Do we need that? How much does Crawford improve the team? Don't just get excited over his talent and 17 ppg, examine the situation.

Strider I agree to a point. Here are the bad salary players:

Eddie Robinson $6,767,540-$7,288,120
Jerome Williams $5,600,000-$6,075,000-$6,425,000-$7,050,000
Chris Jefferies $899,040-$1,621,868-$2,405,230

Moochie Norris $3,850,000-$4,200,000-$4,550,000
Shandon Anderson $7,300,000-$7,900,000-$8,500,000

Though we'd be taking back some bad contracts, all three guys (E-Rob, JYD, and Jefferies) are players that can legitimately play. Moochie and Shandon are nothing more than pieces of sh!t that would be 11th/12th players on good teams.

Strider, why not do this trade? We would still have our MLE intact, which we could use on a good FA. Or even trade it away for future pick, anything is possible,

I just don't wanna wind up having dudes on the team for 3-4 years. Look at the legnth of Jerome Williams' contract. I know that Junk Yard plays good defense and he's a 6'8" athlete, but I don't want him here in 2008. We're not winning a championship with these guys.
