Zito and Mulder were probably on steroids.

It's possible. Makes me think they should just let all the records stand.

Zito was throwing 89-91 his first few years, putting up some really solid years.

All of a sudden he's throwing 86MPH and going 11-11 with a mid 4 ERA. He didn't suffer any injury, his fastball just vanished. Something is up there.

I don't think Zito was ever a consistent 90s pitcher, even when he was good. From what I remember, he was usually 88-89 and he'd touch 90-91 everyone now and then. But he'd spot the changeup well and that curveball was sick.

Has anyone watched him recently? How does the curveball look? Does it still have that crazy loop?

I'd imagine its not as good. The faster you throw the more spin you generally get on the curve. His wasn't a power curve, but I'm sure it has suffered because of the deterioration of his throwing arm.

Zito's fastball had zip back in the day. He used to be able to blow guys away with a high fastball. He can't do that anymore.

I haven't seen him in years, but I'd bet the curveball is working at least decently. If it wasn't, at 85 MPH, how the f*ck would he get anyone out
