Either Sterling or Steiner said something that I think is important. He is fearless on the mound. His only problem is throwing strikes. I hope that is true and he works out his controll issues in the future.

He pitched very good today, and hopefully this gives him a boost. He was in a very very tough situation, and he nailed it. Our pitching was excellent tonight.

What the f*ck does "fearless on the mound" mean? And how does one determine and/or gauge that quality in a pitcher who doesn't throw strikes?

Mike Franscesa defines "fearless on the mound" as a person who has "guts" and "grit" and "attacks hitters". You know, a guy that "knows how to win". This particular type of pitcher can "bear down" when they don't have their best stuff and "find a way to get it done". You see Strider, pitching has nothing to do with the quality of ones pitches, or ability to throw strikes, or how many runs you give up, or how easy a batter can get on base off of you. One day you'll understand, when you've been in "the biz" as long as Mike Franscesa.
