What are some realistic players the Knicks can get with the MLE? I'm not talking about guys that we're just hoping will settle for it like Kobe, Rasheed, and Camby.

Go celebrate Eddie Gil and whichever worthless European you pulled out of the draft that will continue to play in Europe. :smirk:

frontcourt players are the only ones they should be even considering (unless they can somehow get Jamal Crawford w/it, which i highly doubt)...

w/that in mind, here is a realistic list of FA's that can be had w/the MLE or a portion of it:

Mark Blount (perfect choice for the full MLE)
Etan Thomas (good choice, native Harlem grown talent)
Chris Anderson (for half the MLE he'd be a great signing)
Dan Gadzuric (for a portion i'd be OK w/it)
Keon Clark (for a portion i'd be OK w/it)
Antonio McDyess (if you can trade Kurt & others for Dampier, then he would be a good signing)
Adonal Foyle (OK if no other bigmen can be had)
Vin Baker (don't want him)

forget about Kobe, Rasheed, Dampier, Camby, Okur, or anyone better than the ones on this list signing w/NY for the MLE, cuz it's not happening.

Blount is not worth the ENTIRE Mid-Level exception. Last I heard he was 29 and the fact that he had a breakout year this late in his career is kind of wierd. Foyle is a player I would love to get. He is a better defensive player than Dampier, who could block ALOT of shots.

Hold up. I was on the Jamal Crawford bandwagon during the season, but since then its it me. Crawford is a SG/PG. He's too good a player to have on the bench, especially with Anderson, Hardaway, and Williams. Where in the lineup would he play? It would be one thing if Allan Houston wasn't here, but he is. Even if we were able to move Tim Thomas, Crawford (6-4) is too small to play SF. I don't think that signing him would be a good idea.

We need defense. Get me either the dude who can defend the post and block shots or the dude who can defend on the perimeter. I was sick of seeing Nazr get toasted down low and this team give up wide open 3 after wide open 3. If you ain't defending the post or the perimeter, you ain't doing sh*t. And like I said in my rant when the season just ended, we need a real tough guy. Hopefully it can be the same dude who defends the post and we get a 2 for 1. This team is soft and pussy. And don't tell me Kurt Thomas. Anyone can kick their wife's ass and stare down refs. Get me a mo'fucka who will bust somebody's ass, crouch down over him, and drop his nutsack on the guy's forehead and say, "Property of me, bitch!"
There was no reason why Jason Collins could lay out the Knicks second leading scorer and not even have sh*t said to him. If Kurt was really tough, he would have done something....unless he had already fouled out by the 2nd quarter. When Frank Williams is your toughest player, your team is soft. New York don't raise softies dammit and the team should represent that.

why is he not worth the MLE? he had a breakout year just like Eric Dampier had a breakout year...Dampier's asking for upwards of $10 million per after he opts out...why is Blount not worth half that amount?

Isn't Dampier like the same age? Didn't he take just as long to have his breakout season?

So you want to sign that guy until he is 36 TMS? I don't. He is not worth that entire salary. He is a player who has to prove himself in another season that he is truly worth it. And do you forget how bad the Celtics frontcourt was? What makes you think that those stats were not inflated? Dampier was a good player in the past who just had a few bad seasons. And he is NOT going to get 10 Million a year. He is not worth that much. Foyle would be a MUCH better option for us.

Foyle is a backup C imo...not worth the entire MLE...i understand your point about Blount's age, but Dampier' situation is not much different...the numbers he put up last year are going to have to be worth twice as much as you would offer Blount btw, because he is going to demand that much to sign w/any team...he would not have opted out of his contract if he couldn't get more than at least $8 million a year otherwise.
