That's why I had said a dollar ain't much but for a homeless person, its something. I get what you mean though. The plan at MSG is to continue to be a playoff team, add tack on players, and hope that one of those years they get lucky. |

I'd like to chime in on this topic. I have to say, I completely disagree with the idea that a corporation like Cablevision that is currently cutting back on expenditures would consider clearing $13 Million dollars off their payroll as insignificant. The actual figure is $26 Million dollars in total if you count the luxury tax savings. Plus you have to also factor in the longterm salary that the team saves on as well if you get rid of contracts like Kurt Thomas, etc. That's not insignificant by any means. Cablevision would not turn a blind eye to that even with their history of throwing good money after bad in their previous deals to sign guys like Allan Houston, Clarence Weatherspoon, Howard Eisley & Shandon Anderson to horribly overpaid deals. If anything, those past experiences will make them alot more reluctant to take on big money players at extended years unless they were getting a guaranteed stud. I honestly can't understand how anyone who has followed this team over the past several years would have a problem with trading Kurt Thomas & expiring deals for a player like Antoine Walker, who's simply a better player whether you consider him to be selfish or not & has an expiring contract to boot. It boggles my mind. |

excuse me, but how is credibility lost here? do you have a legitimate reply to my post or not? are the points i brought up invalid? prove to me how my credibility is lost here... i figured registering under a new name would get me some legitimate responses to my points, but i guess i was wrong...are you guys incapable of discussing anything w/o resorting to immaturity? |

You completely ignored my opinion of Walker despite the fact that he was on my favorite team for several years. I watched him play, I know what you're getting, and I pointed it out to you, and you said I was wrong in no uncertain terms. I'm not going to continue to say that same things that are being ignored over and over again. I've stated my opinion, Walker has proven to be a below 40% shooter, unwilling to use his size on the offensive end of the floor, and takes ill-advised shots in transition routinely. I don't know how I can prove that, other than by saying I saw it repeatedly. Then you come around and pretend that you are "chiming in" to the argument when really you've been involved in it from the beginning. If you can't see how that kills some degree of credibility, i'm not sure I can really explain anything to you. |

Frankly i'm in no position to discuss the Knicks financial situation, mainly because I hope the franchise disintegrates and I haven't spent my time analyzying their salary cap situation. My comment was regarding your addition of a new identity. Like it or not, its cheesy to not identify yourself and attempt to be seen as a new opinion on the matter. Frankly, you seem to be speaking as if you have some inclination of what Cablevision wants to do financially, when really you are just speculating. I've stated my opinion many times on Walker, I wouldn't want him on my team for $2, and stated why. If you are in Cablevision's books and feel this is a money-saving move that makes sense, be my guest. I don't know what else to say about it, everything i've said has been patently ignored up to this point anyway. |

anyone who thinks a corporation would not put any significance on being able to save $26 million dollars (& possibly double that amount when you factor in the savings on the longterm deal of KT) is fooling themselves...it doesn't take a financial genius to figure that out. |

Well, correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't the Knicks still owned by the people who bid against themselves and overpaid Allan Houston? And who gave Kurt Thomas that ridiculous extension? AND who extended Don Chaney TWICE? Sure, the move makes financial sense, but since when did that mean anything to Cablevision? More to the point, you were arguing for this move based strictly on the player's abilities under your alter ego. Are you now suggesting that this move helps the Knicks more financially than Walker helps them on the floor? Just clarifying. |

So you don't understand that if you clear out that spot and you are still over the cap, you can't replace that spot with a player being paid anymore than the MLE?
You've already ignored everyone's negative feelings on Walker. Making up a new username won't change that. Why not just start posting with your regular name? Obviously that new board of yours gets very little traffic, so there's nothing wrong with posting here again.
We responded repeatedly to your points in this post, but you either ignored them, posted some stats, or quoted owners/former teammates. Nothing you've said is your feelings. It's all stats and quotes.
Even before seeing the matching IPs, it was obvious it was tMs. It seemed like him throughout the whole post, but the saying "to boot" was a dead giveaway.
It's expenses, not expenditures. Nice try using the fancier word, but Cablevision is not a government agency or a not-for-profit organization. |

dude, my board gets plenty of good Knicks discussion...i've seen some people from this board lurking over there too...but don't worry, you & your clones wouldn't like it over there anyway...there's no flaming allowed. anyone is free to compare the level of hoops discussions between the 2 boards if they like...not that i even care to compare my board to this one...i've never tried & undercut you guys over here to promote my own boards, so i don't see your purpose in even bringing that up Matt...why don't you explain yourself on that one? i'd love to hear your reasons for making that comment...if you hadn't noticed, my boards have about 4 times the amount of posts on the Knicks board than this one does, so nice try w/your little uncalled for dig at my site...you're wrong as usual. anyway, you're going backwards in the argument again, as i knew you would...address the point i made in response to your last comment...you said that a $13 million dollar expiring contract does nothing...don't bring up the fact that the Knicks are capped out...that's besides the point...saving money & getting a better player in the process while maintaining good flexibility to make future trades makes perfect sense to ANY team...unless you happen to think that Kurt Thomas is a better player than Antoine Walker, i don't get where your argument is based, except of course on your personal disdain for Walker. btw, citing stats & figures to support one's argument is considered a GOOD thing...it's alot better than saying "it's my opinion so there", which is what you seem to enjoy doing on a regular basis whenever you don't have a leg to stand on. |

OK, tMS, you're 100% right. You always are. Your opinions are always correct. Your new boards looked great the one time I checked them out. I especially enjoyed the 2 replies in one of the Yankee game threads. Good luck running your flame-free boards. I hope you still post here because without you, we would be lost. We would lose our resident baseball and basketball expert, who is never wrong. We can't afford to lose you. Again, thank you so much for proving me wrong, and someday I hope to know as much about basketball as you do. Then maybe I will appreciate just how good Antoine Walker really is. |

Holy sh*t, I guess I will explain it again. If the Knicks want to get under the cap, they need to start scrapping seasons to get under around 2007. I am fine with that, but most fans are not, and Dolan certainly isn't. He wants fannies in the seats. If you lose Antoine's $13 million at the end of this year as a result of letting him walk, where does that get you? The Knicks would still be well over the cap and would not be able to fill that spot with another player with a salary that high. If the Knicks want to get under the cap when Houston's contract finally expires, they need to dump everyone, including Marbury. It's clear you don't understand the salary cap. That's fine, but don't take your frustrations out on me. |

I get the feeling your definition of "logical" is, "agrees wholeheartedly with me." I already addressed that issue, I said that I didn't know if it makes financial sense, but Cablevision hasn't shown any financial sense with either of their NY area sports franchises, so why would they start now? I also stated that your original argument for Antoine Walker was based around on-court performance, NOT finances, and that only with your alter-ego did you address the financial implications of the trade. However, you were unconvinced by my assessment of Antoine Walker's on-court play, throwing nothing but scoring/rebounding/asst. stats at me and showing that you have NEVER watched him play over any extended period of time. Stats do not tell the story with Antoine Walker, that is my opinion based on the LOGIC of having watched him play on my team for several years. IF that's not logic enough for you, I don't know what else to do. |

the cap situation isn't the question here...i don't know why you keep falling back on that one...clearly you don't have any other point other than "our cap situation is f*cked anyway so who cares"...that's pretty damn naive on your part...but pretty much what i expected from you anyway. well, i hope you enjoy playing the role of "Mr. Hoops knowledge" over here...you're basically talking to yourself & your clones anyway so i guess you feel validated in that sense. enjoy yourselves kiddies! :hey: |

The cap is the question here, you f*cking moron. Open your f*cking eyes and look at the situation. What is the point of taking on expiring contracts? Do you know? I'll tell you. It's to attempt to get under the cap!!! That is unless you are expecting the Knicks to become another version of the LA Clippers, who for years looked to save money, so they let players walk. I'd love for the Knicks to rebuild, but it takes tanking the next few seasons. Dolan would not stand for that. He wants fans to show up to the games. Do you really think he cares that much about the luxury tax when it's possible he will be signing a guard who might not even start until Houston leaves for $60-70 million when they're already way over the cap? Letting players with expiring contracts walk would be pointless unless the goal were to get under the cap! You're absolutely useless to try to discuss things with. You change your tune all the time. First it was that Antoine is a really good player. Then when everyone disagreed, you disappeared for a few weeks. Now you came back under some other alias with an angle about Antoine's expiring $13 million contract. You talk about me talking to myself. That's all you do. You don't listen to other people's points. You just keep preaching your f*cking bullsh*t. |
