He picked the Lakers to win the championship before the season started. He really is losing it. |

That's right, beforee the season started. I'm not an oracle. How would I have known that Gary Payton would get old overnight and that Malone would breakdown? The Lakers had the best team on paper. That's like calling me out if predict the Yanks to take the Series this year and they don't. And I remember the conversation. You were talking all this sh*t about chemistry and a team having too many good players. I was arguing that an All Star type roster where everyone executes and plays up to his potential is better than a team with a bunch of role players. I'd rather have a bunch of Vlad Guerreros at-bat than Placido Polancos. IF EVERYONE PLAYS UP TO THEIR POTENTIAL AND EXECUTES IN KEY SPOTS, the best team on paper will kick the sh*t out of any squad. The Lakers, because of age/injuries and people underacheiving, did not play up to their potential or execute in key spots. That's why they lost. Remember the argument Rob and I got into after the Yanks lost in game 6? Rob with his nonsense about the Marlins being a better team. I said that the Yankees were the better team and the Marlins just played better and executed when they had to. That's true. Same goes for the Pistons. They played their asses off, slapped the Lakers silly and deserved to win....deserved to sweep. However, the Lakers were the better team. There's a reason they had one of the top seeds in the west and got to the Finals. The Pistons just came through when it counted while the Lakers didn't show up. Ya'll can kiss my ass. Strider's hasn't lost anything. |

The Yankees had better players, not a better team. There's a difference. It's the same with the Lakers. Better players, but couldn't really work as a team. |

What do you mean, "couldn't really work as a team"? They had one of the best records in the league (in the west) and won the Western Conference. The Yankees had the better team, that's why they led the Major Leagues in wins. They just didn't play as well as the team that beat them. If you go position by position down the rosters, the Yankees had the better team. If everyone played up to their potential: If Jason Giambi was batting .340, Soriano wasn't swinging before the pitcher even got his signs, Jeter was batting .333, if Boone wasn't an idiot, and the pitching staff pitched like they were capable of, we would have won. C - Pudge over Posada 1B - Giambi over Lee 2B - Soriano over Castillo 3B - Lowell over Boone SS - Jeter over Gonzalez LF - Matsui over Conine CF - Pierre over Williams (but Bernie played well in the Series) RF - Cabrera over Garcia/Sierra Mussina over Beckett Clemens over Pavano Wells over Penny Pettitte over Willis -------------------------------- Yankees win 8/12 of those matchups. We had the better regular season. The Marlins won because they had the right guys get hot at the right time, executed when they had to, got hits w/ RISP, didn't have Jeff Weaver on their roster, and came through in the clutch. If we get our ass beat by the D'Backs tonight, 13-0, are you gonna say that the Diamondbacks have the better team? |

You know what past stats amount to in the World Series or NBA Finals or any other sporting championship series or game? That's right, sh*t, a big heaping hot steaming pile of sh*t. |

What the hell do you mean stats don't mean sh*t? You have two boxers about to fight each other. One has a 32-0 record with 28 KOs and the other is 0-9 and has been knocked out in all of his fights. Who the hell is the better fighter? One team comes in with the best record in the league (though they underacheived), has the best roster on paper and the other team comes in as a Wild Card team who barely made the playoffs. Who the hell is the better team? You're 1/2 right, what's happened in the past doesn't mean sh*t if you don't show up. The Marlins outperformed the Yankees. It doesn't mean they were the better team. They came through when they had to and the Yankees didn't. The Yanks lost the season opening series to the Devil Rays. ESO, you're a Yankees fan, tell me the D'Rays are the better team. Hell, they're on a 9 game win streak and the Yankees are on a 2 game losing streak. Zambrano has beaten us two or three this season. Tell me that he's better than Mike Mussina. You can't, because he's not and they're not. What happened was: They outperformed us at that time. Is Jeff Weaver better than Javier Vazquez? Weaver got a hit tonight, A-Rod didn't, is he a better hitter? Come on people.
