Good solid young catchers are hard to find...friggin Pat Borders and Bobby Estella are still playing for crissakes....
Posada is in his young 30's...just went catchers begin to go down hill..and it's a proven fact that after Age 32 C's stats go downward.
We CANNOT trade anymore future Pro's.

I actually agree with you Kocur, although I think Posada's decline will start a little later since he started in the infield in the pros and wasn't a full-time player in the majors until he was around 27-28. Posada can eventually play some first base as he gets older like he did sometimes in 2000 when Tino was struggling, and Navarro can slide in behind him.

It's a tough call imo. I'd like to keep Navarro, but at the same time if we have to deal him to get a top of the line pitcher I say do it. The Yankees are a team built to win now.

Navarro's hitting just .267 for Trenton this season. That being said, I'd be willing to trade him for a top of the line pitcher, nothing else.

I'll take that into consideration.

I'm sorry, but if it's for a top line pitcher, I'll trade him, but nothing else.

I'm with Vin and Amit on this one.

I would trade Navarro. Honestly, I'm willing to burn Posada out. It's not like the Piazza situation, where the Mets need to save an all-time great hitter. We can get Posada some time at DH and 1B to slow the decline down, but I'm willing to leave him at catcher for years to come. If you can get a starter for Navarro (especially a young guy like Garcia), then you need to do it.

Look at how shitty our minor league pitching situation is right now. We have to bring in guys like Sturtz and maybe Elerton because we need bodies to start at Columbus.

Elarton? We don't need to stockpile garbage.

Footnotes
Pitcher Scott Elarton was placed on waivers for the purpose of giving him is unconditional release. He will become a free agent Monday, when he's expected to be pursued by the New York Yankees, among other teams, for a Triple-A job. ... The Rockies remain interested in trading for pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim if the Boston Red Sox are willing to eat the majority of the right- hander's $10 million contract.

NY Post

Quote:

* If Scott Elarton, 28, is released by the Rockies (he was designated for assignment May 15), the Yankees could have an interest in the right-hander who was awful in eight starts for Colorado this season, going 0-6 with a 9.80 ERA. Any team claiming Elarton, a 17-game winner with Houston four years ago, would be responsible for what's left of his $480,000 contract.
