Vald .353 8HR 29 Rbi's
Sheff .270 3HR 18 Rbi's
please I don't want to hear that tired excuse he changed leagues, Matsui changed countries and hit better than Sheffield. I may be more forgiving if i liked him but I don't so f*ck him, he's been useless as tits on a bull.

Remember that thumb injury in ST. That might be a factor in Sheffield's struggle.

Who said it was because he changed leagues, one of the announcers?

He's struggling because he's swinging like he wants to hit the ball to Mars.

Exactly, the other night on the radio I heard them saying about changing leagues, and yes I agree he is trying to hit every ball if not to Mars at least "To the moon Alice!"

After getting off to a good start last season, Matsui was sucking for some time. He turned it around and started sizzling against the Reds. His average was around .250-.260 before that.

Matsui needs to watch the films of that series to remember how to hit.

Sheff has been in the NL for 10,000 years in a row, he's adjusting to the AL. They are pitching him differently, if you don't see that you are blind. 2-0 count and he gets an outside slider, in the NL he'd get fastballs.

Vlad doesn't have to adjust, he's a free swinger and swings at anything they throw at him. There is nothing for him to adjust to!!

Sheff is not that kind of hitter, he works the count and waits for an inside fastball to crush. And he hasn't been getting it when he's used to getting it.

Yank5k, what the hell are you talking about??? Matsui went through the same thing last year. Do you not remember? Last year on June 5th Matsui was batting .250 with 3 HR. So get your facts straight!!! He had to adjust too.

Well, well well so the problem is they're not throwing Sheffield what he wants.
Excuse me if I don't shed a tear, isn't the art of pitching to keep the batter off stride,
Sheffield has seen many of these pitchers before they also change leagues, every pitcher Matsui faced was new plus they threw pitches he never saw in Japan, Part of his problem this year maybe that have readjusted to him and are working on what they see as a weakness in his hitting.
Sheffield was a more patient hitter in the NL and I don't think he tried to hit every friggen pitch for a HR, His track record for hitting is good his approach this year with the Yanks sucks. It's not the pitchers job to throw him what he wants it's his job to adjust to what they're throwing so far he hasn't shown an inclination to do that.
