If Jeter doesn't step up now, and we are gonna pack it in, it's time for a move here. I'm still pissed at Jeter for first pitch swinging and not moving in the winning run the other day. He's our Captain and has to either bunt it up first base or take the ball the other way. He lightly bounced it to short playing in. :fyou:

I don't think our season depends on it Jeter can hit or not. It would be great for him to get a single here or there, but we have other guys who can hit too.

In other words, he's useless. We could have some slick fielding shortstop (with range) making 1/20th of his contract (like Rey Ordonez) instead of him and we'd be just as good.
I'm not saying...I'm just saying. :dunno:

REY f*cking ORDONEZ ???????

you people have got to be f*cking kidding me .

Jeter has been awful lately, but these same people were ripping him when he was hitting well over .300. Write this off to being clueless, BleacherCreature. They may never learn.

I was being half sarcastic with the Rey Ordonez comment. Going off what Drew said, Rey Ordonez would make sense. If he doesn't have to hit and just chip in with a single here and there....that's the equivalent of Rey Ordonez. But let's get this clear: DEREK JETER IS MY 2ND FAVORITE PLAYER. I don't hate him and I'm not irrational. I have been critical of him however, because of his decline since 1999. After hitting .349, he dropped off to .339 and so did his power numbers, then he hit .311, he then dropped down to .297. He was able to rebound from a dislocated shoulder and poor performance after coming back, and finished at .324. After that, I expected him (healthy, rejunenated, and in '04 Murderer's Row) to return to that .330 form. He's disappointed me, again. Just because I'm critical of someone doesn't mean I hate them.

I've already learned. Maybe some of you will learn that just because you're not drinking your favorite player's sweat and shrugging off crap performance, doesn't mean that you're any less of a fan. I'm there watching and rooting hard in all of his at-bats.

I agree with most of what you said in the above quoted part actually. 473 is more clueless than you. You actually like Jeter. 473 just has a crush on him, and since he can't get him, hates him.

sorry i missed the sarcasm , with all the jeter bashing in here it is getting tough to filter through .

listen , i hear ya bro . i was looking at jeter to hit .320 plus , with 100 runs scored , etc . etc . , just like everybody else . i thought with all the protection in the lineup , all the runners that would be on base , and the way he came on last year after the injury , he would have a monster year . and it is not happening . as a matter of fact , as we sit here right now he may be the worst starting shortstop in the league . anybody who thinks different is just not paying attention . and i am as dissapointed as everybody else here is .

but for me , the bottom line is jeter is our shortstop . no matter what . i do not care if he hits .150 . i do not care that the best shortstop in baseball is 50 feet away at third . drop him to 9th , sit him a game , do something to try to lite the fire in this guy , but he is the shortstop . end of story .

if one of your boys showed up every time you needed someone at your back and had a pocketful of cash and a baseball bat with no questions asked , the one time he couldnt make it , that wouldnt mean he is not your boy anymore . sometimes sh*t happens . right now sh*t is happening for jeter . but he has shown up every time we needed him for years , and right now i have his back . and i think that we all should . he has more than earned it . all of this jeter sucks , bench jeter , take his job bullsh*t has got to stop. the guy has earned the right to try to work this out .

You hit it right on the head, Matty23. If you ever find Jeters dead naked body sans a Penis you know it's me :serious:

Jeter will be fine. He'll hit at least 300 the rest of the way, and go right back to being Mr. Postseason.

It's that 5+ starter's ERA that should concern us.

Jeter will not be fine. The pitching will be though.

As soon as Randy Johnson puts on a #51 pinstripe/gray jersey.
Bernie will be wearing #73 or something.
