Sad thing is he won't even be a 32 million dollar set up man, he'll be a 32 million dollar long relief mop up man and maybe in during a big spot in the 6th inning if you need.  We have Quantrill and Flash to set up the 7th and 8th.

You mean he wont even be that BRIDGE to Mariano that you been predicting since last season :no1: f*cking head case, he's the cuban Weaver and he's also scared of Boston and any real competion. He only pitched well against the wackest team. I hope he turns it around but he might just turn out to be a 32 million dollar :no1:

I've got no faith in Contreras, I just don't think he can make it NY. I'd love to be wrong though.

The pitcher the Yanks will add to this staff will be my boy Freddy Garcia.  Of course getting Garcia means giving up my other boy Navarro.  I'm not convinced I want to do it, but I am convinced this will be the pitcher we get, not RJ.  Not a bad move either, if he has indeed re found the form that made him the Ace of the Mariners staff and the man the Yankees couldn't solve in 2000.  This to me is like a Vazquez type deal, and you got to give up something to get something.  Yes, Navarro would look good slowly taking over for Posada and shifting Posada to more of a DH/1B role with Giambi once Bernie retires and we get a CF'er.....of course that is a couple of years down the road.  However, can you pass up getting a guy like Freddie for this years run?  There's no doubt in my mind we need another pitcher.  Moose has been up and down to say the least, Brown is the ace but is 39 years old and injury prone, Vazquez is a great young arm but still unproven in the big game and Lieber has never hurled a playoff game either.  That would be your four come postseason as of now.  We are going to need another arm this year so why not just make the move for Garcia.  From what he's said he wants to be a Yankee and more then just this year.  I'm very confident we will make sure we sign him to an extension if we are going to give up Navarro.  Make no mistake folks, Freddy Garcia will be a Yankee come July.

I think the Yankees might be able to get Garcia without using Navarro or Duncan. Just a hunch.

Then who do we give up??? Graman, Bubba, Proctor ? They're the only other healthy triple A prospects that comes to mind. I think not. Seattle will not go for that and no one on our major league level who is expendable seems appetising either...

I can't see it happening unless we give up Navarro. He's exactly what Seattle needs and you got to give up something of value to get something of value...

But I am curious, MM, who are you thinking Seattle will find acceptable for Garcia??

See this, you assfuckers? Who came up with this idea the other day? I swear the sportswriters must read this sh*t.

Looks like it will be Navarro. Hate to do it, but I would. Garcia turns 28 in a month, has won big games in the past, is pitching like he used to AND wants to be a Yankee.

Look - I hate to trade a top prospect, but its not like we'd be doing it for 400 year-old Randy Johnson. The guy is not even 28 yet. This is the type of move we need to make.

Navarro for Garcia straight up? I'd do it.

Me too !

Trading for Freddy means the Yankees are giving up on Contreras as a starter for the rest of the year, unless there's an injury.  I would love to trade Contreras, but he is making way too much money.

Then pay most of Contreras's bloated contract and trade him; turn him into something positive like we did with Weaver. As it sits now, we are paying the contract anyway and he is dead wood (or worse).

I don't think we'd be able to get a bucket of elephant semen for him even if he was only making the minimum. If we're gonna pay him, I'd rather have him in Columbus.

I think i'd be somehwat confident if Contreras was in the bullpen. His stuff is great, just seemingly for a long peroid of time he gets figured out throughout the game...but for 1 INNING, his fastball,fork-ball,splitter and changeup? I'd love that for 1 inning, just my thoughts.

Gun to my head yes. It's not so much that I like Navarro as a hitter it's that I like where he plays.
