What about trading for Piniero?

I know Piniero's record this year sucks, but he pitched real well today. Today's loss wasn't his fault. He's been a very good pitcher the last 3 years; I'd say about a #3 caliber. He's really durable to.

With Anahiem on fire and either Boston or New York probably winning the wildcard, Seattle seems done. Do you think they'd consider trading him? If we pay most of Contreras's contract and throw in Duncan and Graman, they might bite...

There's no way Seattle will trade Piniero to the Yankees this year. He's not on the market.

They love him and he's young, 1-5 or not. He doesn't make a ton of money, as far as I know. That's why they want to move Freddy Garcia. They almost non-tendered him this past offseason to shed his salary. I know it is a couple of seasons later and it's a different GM running the ship, but the M's led by Pat Gillick turned down a deal for Scott Rolen because they love Piniero.

Lets be realistic....more like lets target Everyday Eddie G from them...and possibly Olerud for a key 1b/DH/PH post season type....I'm no Bad Hair Tony Clark fan.

I think the M's would have to be blown away to trade Piniero. He's the type of guy they can build around if they want to rebuild. If Moyer would waive his no trade clause, he's a guy that would be an interesting possibility.
