He still needs work on the ball hit to his right, but he has really done some job in a very short period of time. He's one talented dude.

Agreed. He looks like a natural out there. Hey, remember Knoblauch was actually our leftfielder in 2001 :bag:

Agreed, he's simply amazing. I'm not really surprised as to how quick he's picked up the move to third. A gold glove SS can play anywhere asked. If you can conquer SS you can do it all. We all know A Rod is head and shoulders above Jeets as far as SS go...........Jeet would have never been able to make the move as easy...PERIOD, that's another reason he needed to stay at short.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I wouldn't be surprised to see A-Rod winning quite a few Gold Gloves over at third for us.

I wanted Jeter moved to 2B, but I won't get into that. Another reason why it had to be A-Rod playing 3B is that Jeter doesn't have the arm to make the long throw from third. Sure, that jump throw looks good, but Nomar and A-Rod make the play from a similar spot all the time, without the jump. They have enough arm so they can buy themselves enough time to set their feet. DJ would struggle at third.

I actually wouldn't have minded Jeter at 2nd either, but like you said, no point in getting into that discussion right now. A-Rod is the third baseman and he's played very solid over there so far.

Jeter has some of the worst range at SS. He's slow to reacting to the ball and lets a lot of hits go through. If we could pick up a slick fielding 3B, move Jeter to 2B, and put the Gold Glover back to his natural position, our infield defense would be greatly improved.

I was thinking the same thing Strider, but not going to happen. Joe's commited to Jeter at SS.

Sometimes this over extended loyalty crap gets to me. If you're hurting the team (i.e. Jeter at SS and Bernie in CF), then the team should come first and f*ck hurting their feelings. This is not a little girls tea party! They are well paid professional managers and players who should just deal with it and do what's best for the team...

Jeter is not hurting the team at SS. I said all along, even though A-Rod is the better SS, it probably makes him the better 3B. In addition to that, he would not be a Yankee if he did not agree to move to 3B. Everyone involved understands that, but the newspaper writers and a few fans. A-Rod is the better SS, the better 3B, but Jeter is the Yankees' SS and A-Rod would not even be on this team if he had not understood that.

I know why A-Rod had to move to 3B. I don't have a big problem with that. However, next season, I want A-Rod back at SS, Jeter at 2B, and a good fielding 3B.

As Matt said, Jeter isn't hurting us by being at SS. I like Jeter at SS and A-Rod at 3B. Hopefully we can sign Boone for 2B, and we have a very good infield.

He's not hurting us a short, but we do have a better SS. Its like saying, "There's nothing wrong with my Honda Civic," but you also have a Lamborghini in your garage. Jeter doesn't make a lot of errors (especially throwing errors) but he does have poor range. Some of the balls that go through the middle should be fielded. If A-Rod is better at SS, then play A-Rod at SS. Not this season ofcourse, but he should be there next year.

btw - What's with all this silly Boone talk? If he came back this season, he'd suck. He's a .260 hitter to begin with and he would be coming off an injury, no Spring Training, and would be out of rhythm. Leg injuries to players whose game is based on speed aren't good. And I think he might be coming back too early. Remember what happened to Edgerrin James when he came back early from the ACL? How about Willis McGahee last season? If we signed him in August, he'd just suck for 2 months and the same people here who are asking for it now, would be killing him then. Its senseless. We'll either trade for someone better or keep going with Cairo/Wilson until the off season and sign someone like Vidro.

I agree about Boone. I wouldn't be outraged if he were resigned, but I am not a big fan of that guy. I'd rather just stay with what the Yankees have at 2B the rest of the year and go for a defensive presence in the offseason, a guy like Pokey Reese. Vidro is probably out of the picture since he just signed a $30 million extension with the Expos. They will probably use him as the star to showcase the team with in whatever city they choose for next year.

Is there anyway we can get Bret Boone from Seattle? I would love to have that guy play here.

I'd love to get Boone. He's not exactly a spring chicken, but he's still the best defensive 2B in the game and you can count on .290/30 HR/100 RBI out of him. It would take the Mariners falling flat on their face this season and a nice prospect package from the Yanks. I don't know if it could happen, but I'd blush and get hard nipples if it did.

What the hell would be wrong with getting Bret Boone? Is he not an upgrade at 2B? Is he not a Gold Glove winner who can add 30 HR/100 RBI and some stolen bases to this lineup? Would you rather have 2 bench players platooning?
