Carlos Beltran should be the next Yankee CFer...next year, get rid of Lofton, have Bernie DH, & keep Giambi at 1B (no choice) & have Clark backing him up...Travis Lee should be traded for pitching if possible.

I'd rather trade Clark and keep Lee, but other than that, I agree !

i would want to keep Lee too, but you know he won't be happy in strictly a backup role at 1B...& he has some trade value, so i say trade him if you can, because he won't be getting much playing time next year if Beltran is signed.

I would think the Yankees will simply decline their option on Lee for next year, but who knows. Contreras is untradable unless the Yankees eat most of his ridiculous salary.

i can see them eating Contreras' salary if they can get another frontline starter to take his place before the end of the season & if another team is willing to give up a prospect or player that the Yankees want for him.

Lets get this str8...Bernie was DONE defensively 2 years ago.....
Bernie can NO longer hit from the right side.....
Bernie is NO longer an everyday player....

That said Bernie can still help the club in spot duty...but cannot carry the club.

Put the drink down Cocker. He's a better hitter right handed than he is lefty. He hasn't bee a good defensive CFer in three years. And he is still an everyday player. Don't be silly.

I wanted to trade Travis Lee while he was healthy (remember that day?). I thought that a package including Lee might be attractive. Maybe Lee + Duncan or Navarro...

trade them for who?

Wasn't thinking anybody specific. Obviously a starting pitcher. I was just trying to figure out what we had (of value) to offer if somebody became available.

i think Randy Johnson, Tom Glavine or Al Leiter are the most likely prospects for a trade this season that the Yankees will be looking to get...

the D'Backs would probably demand at least a package of Navarro & Duncan for RJ, woudn't you think? i mean, he won't come cheap, especially to the Yankees.

Glavine has 2 years remaining on his deal, so i don't know if i would give up any good prospects to get the guy...not sure how his career numbers are in the postseason.

Leiter would make the most sense, but i don't think the Mets would trade him to the Yankees for marginal prospects (i wouldn't give up much more than Crosby & another 2nd tier prospect for him)

any other starting pitchers you can think of that maybe available at the trade deadline? Freddy Garcia perhaps? someone posted an article on MS that said Seattle, Boston & KC were discussing a 3 way trade that would land Garcia in KC, Byun Hyun Kim & Johnny Damon in Seattle, & Carlos Beltran & a minor league starter in Boston...that sounds too lopsided to be true, but here's the article:

That's a pretty high price, considering his salary. But they would probably ask for at least that. F*ckers! :annoyed:

The Mets would probably love to dump that contract, so I couldn't imagine paying alot in terms of prospects. He could be a huge risk though.

Leiter would make sense. I would consider Duncan for him. Not sure about his salary though.

I would love to get him, but I don't see why Seattle would move him. Young guy. It's not like they are a small market team.

lol maybe but seriously the mets aren't going to part with them, leiter wants to stay and the mets want to keep him and i'm almost positive the mets won't trade glavine! anyway like i said in another thread you have to have prospects to trade for big players at the trade deadline and no offense but the yankees don't have any!!!
