Why didn't he make second or third team All-NBA? Its bad enough he wasn't on the All Star team, but they have some people he's definitely better than on the 2nd and 3rd team. Its bull. The man averaged 20 ppg/9 apg, lead the league in total assists, and carried what had become a joke of a franchise into the playoffs. |

Simply put, nobody has any respect for him. Don't ask me why, but it's a real shame. |

I don't think it has anything to do with disrespect for Marbury. I think it's more like what players had winning teams (Exclude t-mac. You can't leave him off) |

He was more deserving than Baron Davis (always injured) and Michael Redd (had similar PPG + the assists factor), who made 3rd team. Of the guys who didn't make it, Andrei Kirelenko had more votes than Steph. How? My man got f*cked in this. |

Agreed. This proves that Stephon is one of the underrated players in the NBA. Sad but true. He's a top 3 PG. |

Andrei Kirileinko is awesome. That team was expected to be the worst team in the NBA, and a laughing stock. Instead, that team fought hard for a playoff spot, with the leadership of AK47. The guy does everything, and is a big time defender, and he still isn't anywhere near done. He is going to be a top 5 player. At this point, I would take AK47 over MOST players in the league, including Marbury. That's how big he is going to be. Michael Redd is very UNDERRATED. The Bucks were also supposed to be at the bottom of the barrel, but instead, they were a 6th seed, due to the play of Michael Redd. And he doesn't just score. He does everything. People say it was all TJ Ford, but that was only a small portion of it. Michael Redd turned himself into an all star, and helped make a team with low expectations, into a winning team, that made it into the playoffs. And don't give me "The East is garbage" crap I agree that Marbury PROBABLY deserved it over Baron Davis. Again, I am not taking anything away from Marbury, but lets take an honest look at those players who did make it. Points per game and assists don't mean everything. Look at the teams records as well, and take into account how the player factored in. |

How the player factored in? Steph turned what was a joke of a franchise around. He gave hope and credibility to a team stuck in Limbo (not bad enough to get a good pick and damn sure not winning a title). Let's not forget...THE KNICKS MADE THE PLAYOFFS TOO. When you have teams that accomplished similar things, you compare their star players/leaders with stats. Steph averaged over 20 ppg and led the NBA in assists and 2nd in assists per game. He deserved it more than Kirilenko (who didn't make the playoffs), had better overall numbers than Redd, had more assists and a much better shooting percentage than the often injured Baron Davis. The man got f*cked. Ain't no way around it. Wait a minute, I just read your Kirilenko post. Top 5 player. That will NEVER NEVER happen. It'll be a shitty era in the NBA if Andre (who is a good and very athletic player) is a top 5 player. It won't happen, don't get carried away. That's almost as preposterous as people saying Yao will be the greatest center ever. He'll be good, maybe great, but that's crazy. Redd is a good player. I have liked him since the 2002-2003 season. I even traded for him in NBA Live. However, he's not better than Stephon. Steph puts up similar points and then kills him in the assists department. And who gave TJ Ford credit? Nobody gave a f*ck about him once December started. His numbers were so-so and he missed half the season. |

Strider, I am not saying Steph shouldn't have made it, b/c I believe he should have. In fact, b/c Davis was injured often this season, I think Marbury SHOULD have made it over him. But if Davis wasn't, then I can't even argue it too much, b/c that team was losing w/o him, and winning w/ him, clear as day. In fact, they were winning with him, with a bad rest of the team, cause Mashburn was out the whole season, and Magloire is an overrated center, putting up alright numbers in the weakly East. Now, lets talk about Stephon Marbury. 9.3 assists as a Knick, about 8 for the season. 21 points per game, with a 43% field goal %. Excellent numbers, and deserves a lot more credit from Knick fans than he has recieved. But, as much as you have a right to argue, you have to say that AK47 deserves it just as much, if not more, than Marbury. If you wanna look at stats, well, then AK47 is a stat book filling machine. May not get as many points as Marbury, but he has a higher FG% (44%, compared to Marburys 43%). His 3 point shooting % is slightly better (AK 33, Marbury 32). AK47 gets almost 3 blocks a game, which is sick for a 22 year old FOWARD! Add to that, about 2 steals a game. PLus, the record of the Utah Jazz was 42-40, compared to the Knicks 39-43. The Knicks were about .500 when Marbury came. The Jazz record is more impressive, considering that they didn't make any changes, and the team they had was supposed to be the laughing stock of the league. Instead, AK47 leads them to an above .500 record, in that tough West. The were a game out of the playoffs, behind Denver, whom I predicted would break out this season. NBA standings You do have a better arguement about Michael Redd, however, lets take a good look at his stats, b/c that's what we are looking for, when it comes to these awards: Michael Redd Michael got 2 more rebounds a game than Steph (Redds 5ish and Marburys 3ish), but, Marbury got way more assists then Redd, as well as about a steal a game more, than Redd. Lets look at the %s though. Redd had a better 3 pt shooting% (35 for Redd, and 32 for Marbury). Plus, Redd attempted more 3s than Marbury, and still had the better %. The Bucks had the better record, but, the Knicks were plagued with injuries all season long, onces Isiah came into the picture. The Knicks are better than the Bucks, when healthy. In summary, you can make a case for either player. Again, I say I think and wish Marbury deserved it, but at the same time, I don't take credit away from the players you mentioned above. The deserved it equally, or even more. |

What were you right about? It certainly ain't that nonsense you have under your avatar. You're not Strider. Unless you mean that you have a Marcus Camby poster on your wall and that's the greatest ever....but still, it ain't Strider. :no1: |
