Usually dice and I get along alright. But not in Risk. Not with the way we had to throw them since we didn't have much more than a coffee table to play on. I pretty much had to drop them. In a battle that was totally in my favor... me Kelly 1 5 1 4 2 6 1 2 5?! ...6 %#$^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was usually the outcome. |

Future Risk is fun, albeit VERY complicated. You have Mechs instead of normal forces, and can nuke people from the moon and stuff. (Oh yeah, the moon is also fair game in this edition.) |

I remember how much the dice hate me in Warhammer, seriously, roll a 5 to hit, 6 for a crit, 1 to missfire and your cannon blows up *rolls* 1 $#@& |

I know the feeling. I just hate the idea of dice being used in a board game about strategy. I suppose it's the only way to add in an aspect that makes the game "fair" in some form though.

Or that even with proper strategy you can still loose? Luck plays in IRL too, you get the luck of the draw when it comes to good or bad troops. |

True, but I feel that Risk displays "luck" in a flawed fashion. There are better ways of developing a chance system, even with dice. The three against two, defense always wins in a tie system seems to have some sort of issue with giving fair rolls.

Correct. My point simply is, the dice system used in Risk is flawed because that aspect of war is not a static statistic. Every part of war is dynamic, and Risk fails to demonstrate that. And that's about the only point I have.
