Syntax, GFWL IS the motherfucking plague. Before, it was like Steam got retarded, when you had to pay monthly for it 'n shit. Now it's just like Steam got copied. I don't know why, but when I had it on my computer, it annoyed the piss out of me. At any rate, CS isn't supposed to be an overwhelming game, it's just a multiplayer game that's not that expensive with fairly fast rounds. If you didn't play it multiplayer (with at least four people on each team), don't knock it, 'cuz you completely missed the point of the game. So what exactly didn't you like about the game? I can't help but assume it's because there's so many factors that can make you suck at the game (you need good aim just to stay alive, you have to be aware of your surroundings, you'll get raped if you don't use your ears, you'll get raped if you don't use your brain, you'll get raped if you don't use your eyes, you'll get raped if you don't know the map, you'll get raped if you don't know a good firing pattern for the gun you're using, your team will get raped if everyone is spread all over and you don't have the semblance of a team), since that's the case 90% of the time when people dislike the game. What I like about it? Things don't stay alive for ever, and depending on the gun, things die in 2-4 shots. Also, it's a good team-based game. Also, if you get bored of classic CS, you can play some modded game types like gungame or DM. Also, you buy weapons instead of running around and finding them, which is unfortunately a rare game mechanic... I dunno. I guess I like it because it's a goal- and team-oriented game, and it's fairly competitive when you don't suck at it. And you have a nice choice of guns, and things die fast. Kotor worked fine on my 512 MB/2.0 GHz single-core/256 MB graphics computer, by the way... like, smoothly, no lag, etc, and not even on lowest settings. ATI Visiontek X1550, by the way.. *shrug* However, any shadows kill this graphics card ;-; Edit: By the way, I don't like firing guns in CoD4. I don't know why. It seems less like I'm shooting and more like it's a reaction to clicking. I hold down the mouse button and sounds go off and the gun bounces around, but there's something... soft about the firing animations in that game. I think part of it is that I can spray like a mofo and still kill things. Like, multiple shots don't have any effect on my aim.. bugs me. |

GFWL isn't just about GFWL arcade, it involves having the one gamercard and friends list etc. but now the real selling point for many games is cross platform gameplay available in i think 3 games right now. I don't like CS because of 3 reasons: 1: it takes CoD4's lack of balance to a whole new level 2: its a military shooter, I find most to be pretentious on the best of days, maybe its because all the guns feel exactly the same 3: it just feels stiff by comparison to CoD4, now I seem to be comparing CS to CoD4 a lot, its just because its the closest resemblance to CS and I may say I perfer CoD4 over CS but to me that's like saying I prefer Zelda's Adventure over Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon they all suck balls |

...? When you play CS longer, you don't get guns that others don't have access to. Not to mention the majority of the guns are available to both teams, so wtf? How so? Some maps are imbalanced, yes, like fucking Dust and Aztec, but whatever, you make interesting maps (like not dust and aztec) and some of them are gong to get imbalanced (like dust and aztec). If you want balanced maps, play CAL maps, like cpl_strike or cpl_mill.
lol? How long did you play again? Obviously, the different subsections feel different, but even different guns in the SAME section are completely different. The UMP is way different than the P90 is different than the MP5. As far as rifles go, the Defender is fairly accurate but fairly weak, the AK-47 (CK-47 in the game..) is strong but really inaccurate when you spray (although it's really accurate on the first one/two shots, if you're not moving.), the Famas... I dunno about how it works with spray, I only ever use it in burst. The M4 is accurate and fairly powerful, bla bla bla. lol again, CoD 4 and CS are similar in that they are shooters, and pretty much nothing else. You don't move the same, the guns don't shoot the same, and if you spray in CS like you do in CoD, you're going to be very very dead. ...y'know, I don't really care that you don't like counter-strike, and this is pretty much an opinion-based argument, so why are we talking about this again? @_@ We already knew I didn't agree with you when it comes to shooters simply because you like the controller better than the mouse and keyboard, so this argument just kinda further proves that we don't agree.. |

Yeah, GFWL is horrible. Had it for a trial month cause of Universe at War, and got on to play one game in that time. The game was fun, for sure, but it was just...annoying, the way they had it set up. Everything was you HAVE to do this or you HAD to do that. There was no option to say, well, I wanna do this instead. Essentially, I found myself continually asking "Can I just play the game?" the answer given by GFWL was a resounding "NO!!!" and then they proceeded to kick me in the balls (not really, but it did close down my game once or twice because I wanted to do something outside of their awfully networked system of "choices"). And the fact that I recall all that from memory about Universe at War a year and a half ago (I think. May be just a year ago. May be two years ago. :P) is rather scary. Syntax, that's why we avoid GFWL like it's the plague. Because for every gamer with even a remote amount of sense can tell that it is the plague. Also, CS beats the shit out of any FPS for the 360 or the PS3 [or the Wii (yes, you can stop laughing now)] simply because you aren't God. My biggest issue with console gaming in the now is that in every FPS, it seems that you are God. You have the most armor, the most ammo, the most health, the most stamina, and the most of any other ridiculous stat that devs can come up with. You can walk into a base without nary a backward glance, refuse to take cover, get filled with bullets, and still have enough balls and lack of brains to run up to the guy manning the turret and shoot him in the face with your pistol, even though you could take out your rifle and unload on the entire room, and still have enough ammo to walk into the next ten rooms and do the same thing. The shining gem in the Console FPS market, however, is the CoD series. Two, maybe three, bullets, and you're dead. Just like in the real world. How ironic. And I find that fun. Why? Because everyone knows there's no way you could get shot twenty times in the chest and still walk around on two legs as if nothing was wrong. Syntax, I find it funny that you rag on CoD 4 so much. I love CoD for the reasons you hate it, it seems. I don't want to be God. I want to be fearful of bullets, because running out into them seems suicidal in the real world, so why wouldn't it in video games? Btw, Universe at War is not very good. Glitches and Bugs galore. Starcraft is much better. |

bugs don't make a game bad really I've never encountered issues with GFWL on the game's I've used it with (U@W, H2V, DoW2 Beta) What about Rainbow 6? its on the consoles and it is...well...I actually can't find any complaints about that one, what about Gears of War? it may not be everyone cup of tea but it doesn't have characters who are more of a sponge than anyone else on the intended difficulty (hardcore) and even everyone's favorite hate figure Halo doesn't have you as teh ultra gai on heroic in halo's 1 and 2 you have just as much health as the elites. |

And then there is Crysis on Delta, that gives the standard Korean more health than a guy in a super suit. WTF. Fun as crap though. |

Bugs tell you that the game is made badly. i.e. most likely, it is bad. Well, Syntax, your experience with GFWL is much more positive than mine. I never want to use a game that has GFWL again. It is honestly what made me hate Universe at War. Then again, I already disliked it. ![]() You guys are right, you aren't god, but they still make you out to be some super soldier that can take on the world. I haven't played Halo 1 or 2 in quite some time, but I do know that Halo 3 on Legendary has got to be one of the easiest campaigns I've ever played. I remember the first time I played Halo 3, my friend and I jumped in on Co-op on legendary, got through the first two levels, and we both said to each other "This is legendary?" Now, I don't blame devs for making these games ridiculously easy or portraying you as a god or someone who is destined for greatness or some other ridiculous idea that is supposed to glorify the character. It's become something to be expected in the gaming industry, one that I actually hold Nintendo for. All their main characters were portrayed as saviors of the galaxy or planet very early on. They sorta made it a gold standard that your character has to be a god, and then they also made it a gold standard that a game has be relatively easy. I have no problem with a game having an easy difficulty that is meant to ease a player into a game. It's the games that fail to follow through with the challenge of beating the game on the hardest difficulty that I dislike. Here's the idea I'm so exhaustively trying to get at. You could name off games in which you aren't a super soldier that can take a bunch of bullets to the chest and then march right up and shoot the guy once and kill him. And you would be right, I wouldn't argue on those games. The problem is that I can name off more games in which you are portrayed as a super soldier who can do these ridiculous things without breaking a sweat. Too many games follow the idea of making you a god. That's what I was trying to get at. I type a lot.

Gears of War 2 has bugs, its a fantastic game nonetheless. Well I just spent like 3 hours playing all three games on my favorite levels and Halo 3 was astoundingly easy by comparison to the other two, also Co-Op on Halo 3 was a joke with 3 or more people because it indeed made the game way to fuckin' easy, quick curiosity though, have you played all through the campaign on legendary? Because the second to last level is bullshittastically hard even with 4 people. For the record I don't like those games where your a hybrid of man and refrigerator outside easy mode so I'm not going to defend them. |

Generally bugs in an RTS are bad <_< Bugs almost always throw off the balance of the game somehow. Because generally the bug only effects one race/faction, and if said bug gives that faction an advantage, then.. it's imbalanced. |
