Everyone else has one, why not me?
In a recent boredom spree, I've found making planets, and giving them back stories is a lot of fun, the game "Freelancer" inspired this. (I highly recommend this game, and it's like $10 anywhere.)

Profile: Planet Heroia (Pron. Heh-Roy-Uh)
---
Diameter: 17,682km

Terrain: Primarily forested, much like the Rain Forests of Planet Earth.

Temperature Range: 5*c - 78*c

Escape Velocity: Unknown, it is estimated to be around 12km/sec.

Life Support: Plausible, scans reveal life on the planet, primarily plants, however anomalous life signs have been detected, it is estimated there may be some Jurassic life on the planet.
---
Planet Heroia is an average sized planet, in orbit around a medium white. The planet currently remain uninhabited by humans due to the atmosphere containing large amounts of radiation.
Scanning pods have penetrated the atmosphere through high speeds and super heated outer shells, however the survival rate of these pods is low. And the conditions the pod experiences are so incredible a human would be incinerated.
The two surviving pods were able to take several thousand photographs of the landscape. And reported that the planet could support life with the oxygen content around 50%.
The planet circles it's star in geostationary orbit, one side always facing the sun. However the atmosphere of the planet has liquidious properties that captures the star's light and spreads it around 85% of the planet. The remaining 15% has minimal light reflected to it, keeping it's temperatures very low, but not freezing.

Profile: Dreath (Pron. Dreh-th)
---
Diameter: 75,994km

Terrain: Desert, Gaseous

Temperature Range: 700*c - 1200*c

Escape Velocity: >1km/sec

Life Support: Impossible. If the incredible temperatures don't kill you off, the fact that the atmosphere is so weak, your practically exposed to space will destroy you.
---
Dreath is an incredible planet, which has earned it's nickname; Hell. Dreath is so close to the sun that unless you're within the star's corona the planet seems to roll across it.
Probes sent down the the planet's surface had mere minutes to survive, taking samples of the gas, the soil, and any other substances it could before launching itself off the planet. Unfortunately one of the probes launched too late and got caught in the star's gravitational pull. An estimated $240,000,000,000 worth of experiments were lost, causing a stock market crash across the system.
In 4X002 the Prison Ship "Final Hope" was en route to an extermination camp, on board were over 250,000 prisoners. The ship was behind schedule and the captain decided to cut corners around Dreath, to great misfortune, the ship got caught in an atmospherical anomaly where the gravity of the planet became too immense for the prison ship to handle, the captain turned the ship against the pull of gravity and set engines to full power, but it wasn't enough, the pull of Dreath was too great, the ship was going down, over two hundred maydays were sent out, and twenty seven emergency beacons were fired. No one could respond to the situation fast enough, over a period of seventeen hours the ship slowly sunk into the atmosphere of the planet. Finally within the last two hours two small cargo ships were within range of the "Final Hope" With every ounce of energy their small ships could muster they attempted to tractor the prison ship out, but to no avail. The planet had the ship in a death lock and wasn't letting go. In a last ditch effort to escape, the captain ordered abandon ship, he twenty crew members climbed into the escape pods and launched, leaving the prisoners to their fate. But even then the escape pods could not escape the gravity. All 250,000 prisoners and 20 crew members were annihilated.
Due to both the tragic losses of the prison ship and the multi billion dollar experiments, the government has decided to get 'revenge' on the planet by launching several thousand nuclear bombs onto one side of the planet, to collide it with it's star.

Profile: Balboa (Baal-Boh-Uh)
---
Diameter: 54,887km

Terrain: Desert

Temperature Range: 70*c - 120*c

Escape Velocity: 32km/sec

Life Support: No Oxygen, but nighttimes are manageable.
---
Balboa is a desert planet with no life beyond microorganisms, it's atmosphere is made of of Nitrogen and Helium, as well as minuet amounts of carbon dioxide.
Balboa has four moons, at one time five, before two collided.
Two of the four moons have water. One of those moons is made of water. The other has a land mass equivalent to the size of two Japans, at this time there are currently 2 million humans living on the moon, designated XS-1100. The other moon is 92% Water, 8% Mercury.
The Fourth moon is gaseous and has no actual mass. But the atmosphere acts like a bubble, holding the gases in.

And on another note, I have lizards! Three actually.

Meet Tequila:
The adorable Cresty!
Tequila is a New Caledonia Crested Gecko. And he wasn't cheap! MY biggest mistake was not reading up on cresties, as it turns out, they're nocturnal! And now I don't sleep at night...

Meet Nina:
Not slimy, but very shiny! @_@
Nina is trouble. She's an Oscillated Skink, and those legs of hers serve no purpose beyond balance. Basically, if she's happy, she bites. Hard.

And tiny Arthur!
He's so tiny he can't even fit around my finger!
Arthur is lazy, plump, and tiny. I caught him out of the wild. Big mistake, now he's in a stage of depression. I need to find him a female horned lizard, he just kinda pines away as-is...

Birds fall from the window ledge above mine. Then they flap their wings at the last second. I can see
their dead weight just dropping like stones or small loaves of bread past my window all the time.
But unless I get up, walk across the room and peer down below, I don't see their last second curves
toward a horizontal flight. Now due to a construct in my mind that makes their falling and their flight
symbolic of my entire existence, it becomes important for me to get up and see their last second
curves toward flight. It's almost as if my life will fall unless I see their ascent.

I like your lizards again. My bro is a herp freak, so he could prolly identify all of them withouts the names. Skinks are awsome. XD

I'm not really feeling the planets though. Something about them just doesn't look...good.

Lol.
Right good idea..
Let's fuck up the whole system's gravity equilibrium because the planet was a bastard. =)
Seriously... I am not sure what feeding a star a planet that big would do, but I AM sure that that would SERIOUSLY fuck up the solar system.

The textures don't seem to wrap around them, and the lighting isn't very realistic. ;)

The stories and descriptions are very interesting, though...

I was bored recently so I decided to make another planet. I'm so sorry. ;)
I tried much harder to make the planet look more 3D and planet-like, even though still cartoony. I've applied a ton of my photoshop knowledge to this project, so critique is very welcome. Also, clouds!

Profile: Planet Baelus (Pron. Bay-loose) AKA "Planet Whiplash"
---
Diameter: 37,962km at the equator.
Terrain: Primarily grasslands with scattered shrubbery and forest.
Temperature Range: Seasonal, -32*c to 121*c
Life Support: Prime Candidate Atmospherically.
---
In 4.5 Billion years, our sun will expand and the earth will burn. The human race will have scattered across several galaxies by then, but Earth is always remembered.
When the sun did expand, humans felt the need for a great revival. They searched long and hard for planets habitable, matching the Earth in as many ways as possible. A few were found, but one was favored.
Baelus looked to be a dream planet for the revival, the planet was probed and scanned, it turned up to be the most welcoming planet ever, and geographers and scientists wondered how such a planet was overlooked.

It featured everything earth had. Drinkable water, breathable air, all landmass was flourishing and green. Within a matter of a few weeks upon discovery the planet had colonies, and soon cities. Within the rush of the revival spirit, several observational protocols had been missed.
The planet had been discovered at it's most opportunistic time, unknown by it's inhabitants, the planet had an incredibly oblong orbit around it's sun.
As months past; the planet got cooler and cooler, it's inhabitants were still high on the excitement of the revivalist spirit that it concerned no one, even after the days high temperatures were -12*c at best, everyone figured it was just like old Earth's winter.
The planet's orbit was slowing down dramatically, and soon it had come to a complete stop, tremors shook the planet's surface when suddenly, the planet rocketed off back towards it's sun. All inhabitants on the side facing the sun were flattened by the sudden immense gravity increase and then flung off as the planet slowed, all inhabitants on the twilight sides of the planet were flung to the back, and all the inhabitants on the nighttime side of the planet were flung into open space.
Overall only three inhabitants survived the ordeal, each with severe whiplash syndrome over every muscle in their body, one described the experience as "It was like being on a bucking-bull the size of a planet!"

In the end over 25 million people died. No miscalculation has ever been so severe as this, and Terraformers now have a standard policy that planets will be observed for five rotations of it's standard orbit before any terraforming may begin.
The planet however has inspired many theme park rides, and even "I survived Planet Whiplash, and all I got was this stupid T-shirt" T-shirts.
Even the planet itself is becoming an adventure hot-spot, daredevils in supportive skeletal suits and spacesuits will land on the face of the planet just as it's about to launch off back at the sun, to be flung millions of miles across space before an escort comes and picks them up.

Won't find what you can't bind to the mind strynder.

Must burn face and then attend soccer practice; must choose meat then make an igloo sandwich.

I have to say that that cartony looking planet is very reminiscent of the Tales franchise...spesifically Vesperia but I don't know how many of you know what that is...

I dunno why I didn't mention this half a year ago, but the cartoony looking planet's clouds don't look anything like clouds on a real planet. I love these, though :o
