I didn't see him arguing.

Photoshop is useful in its own right; it isn't designed as a spriting program. Microsoft Paint is a basic program, and that is why many would turn to more costly(and ultimately, less effective) alternatives--they don't believe it possible that such a basic program could do such wonders. There are things, however, that MSP can't do quite to the degree of Photoshop or other programs--animations or signatures, for two.

And for the record, if you aren't practiced with MSP, you aren't likely to produce masterpieces. The only reason you don't have to do 'tutorials up the yin-yang' is that there aren't any, because no one considers tutorials required for such a basic program...and then those people turn around and leap upon those who may be less skilled than they, complaining about 'pillow shading' or a thousand other faux pas that could be averted if any of these wonderful artists took time to either coach(and by coach, I don't mean shout at--whatever you may think, that is NOT the way to learn) or write tutorials.
There is something...

...Greater than your friends...

...Greater than your family...

...Greater than the entire world...

...and it starts here.

I've noticd that when people are losing an argument, they say "now, get back on topic". This is on topic, IMO.

They say "Okay, now everyone get back ontopic" because they're afraid that someone might prove them wrong, or they might get owndizzled. Well, most of the time, atleast...

And on a slightly more rare note, because they are tired of either proving their point repeatedly, or because they actually want to get back to the actual topic.

...And who the heck gets tutorials for photoshop? Or at least, Adobe Photoshop. I figured that thing out within an hour. Including the filters, adjustment layers, etc. It's not THAT difficult, really. But because it's so annoying to change colors in photoshop, and Appleworks just sucks, does anyone know of a paint-like program for the mac? Or at least one that has more then two colors at one time and isn't really a pain to switch colors?

Okay, but.. Back on topic. <_< And I'm not saying that because I'm losing an argument as implied above--I'm not even part of this argument. It's just plain off topic. :P

EDIT: Im tired, and my keybord hates me.

I know for sure that you don't know how to use Photoshop. Use Pixen instead.

Off topics, yes. But also a friendly advice.

Maybe it's because the torso looks abnormally large when it is compared to the hands and feet? .... or is it supposed to be that way?..

That looks pretty pink to me ;) .........

Although, now i'm starting to question the space pirates' masculinity. First the thongs, and now they sport pink. What's next? :P

You mean feminine?

Sorry, I just had to say it. Don't kill me.

Gun too big.
Too much black.
Legs are a pixel, maybe two too far forward.
Too many right angles.
Gun-holding arm looks too much like a tentacle.
Other than that, gj.

The black is intentional. It's made in Super Metroid style, which has a lot more black on the pirates than you'd think. As for the angles and the leg position, I don't really care on that either, as that was just a mockup sprite. It was made for a game, and built in parts. RP's animating the parts separately to create more fluid actions.

I agree the arm looks a bit off though.

How big should his gun be? Seems about right to me, but ..

I'm pretty sure that in the game, his gun is pretty frickin' huge. Looks right to me.
And again, I noticed the legs seem too far forward. If I look at the bottom of the picture, it almost looks like Weavel is leaning back. And... generally space pirates are hunched forward.
And that's all I have to contribute, aside from the general 'good job, wish I could do that' type thing.
