“Shit.” Devlin had been pacing around his room for the past fifteen minutes, unable to think of what to do. About a week had passed since a mysterious note was left under his door, presumably from his neighbor Eddie. The day before that was the last time he had actually seen her.

“Shit, shit, shit.” A week’s worth of uneasiness had finally boiled up enough to make Devlin go into full-blown panic, something he really wasn’t comfortable with at all. Usually he was pretty relaxed, and at first he just figured it was another one of Eddie’s jokes. Then, after a while, he figured that she went to go visit family or something and forgot to tell him. But she wouldn’t forget to contact him after a week and a half, would she? He was… special, wasn’t he?

“FUCK!” And across the room went the chair where they realized how they felt. It fell a moment later after banging against the wall, a small bit of spackle from the concrete walls crumbling from the impact. As if it wasn’t clear before, it was now probably a well known fact that Devlin wasn’t quite in his right mind at this point in time. He finally reached that point of near lunacy by the paranoid thoughts ramming themselves right through his skull and into his mind. But was it paranoia if they were probably true?

Was he worthless? Did he mean nothing? Was she lying that whole time? If even she thought that, then who else did? Devlin trudged back across the room, straight towards the overturned chair leaning against the wall. All other emotion was gone. In its place was pure panic and rage. The boy’s movements became very viper-like. Very calculated. His fingers wrapped tightly around one of the legs of the chair and a moment later it was airborne once more. This time it smashed against the door and the back of the chair broke away, clumping down onto the ground and then splintering into pieces as the rest of the chair dropped onto it.

Who else would know where she went? Devlin thought for a moment, staring down at the broken chair, eyes as narrow as a snake. She spent a lot of time with Kanami, he knew that. So that would be his first stop. He made his way over to his door, kicked the pieces of chair out of the way, and pulled the door open. The door ended up slamming against the wall on the interior side of his room, but he didn’t really care. He moved down the hall and practically jumped down the stairs with how many he skipped. Soon enough he was at Kanami’s door. Three loud knocks echoed up and down the first floor hallway.

When Kanami would eventually come to the door and open it, he just kind of stood there. What exactly was he going to ask? He stood there silent, more focused than any other time he had ever been in his life. “…Where,” was all he managed to get out before he closed his mouth again. Who would have thought he'd react like this, anyways?

Nothing was right. It had not been right since certain happenings began to become clear among the campus. While she prides herself in being observant of her surroundings, of the gestures and flickers of emotion people can exhibit, there was still very little Kanami knew. The teachers released things once in a while - students vanishing, yes vanishing in the past few weeks. When she did venture out on weekends, the sensation of being watched became harder to shake. Incidents here, a strange occurrence in Buffalo that startles the local news but rarely reaches the tickers of the bigger organizations. How? Kanami didn’t know. Maybe Shalamar has secret, excellent PR.

Despite keeping to curfew and venturing at erratic hours and days, Kanami found little need to worry, not yet anyhow. Once in a while, her brown eyes would glance to the screens at any given moment. Students were staying closer together, whispering about the strange happenings, trying to lose themselves in their schoolwork or activities. Trying, but they are nervous still. The girl took to catching up on some math homework today and was having a tough time doing so. A glance above her. Eddie had been quiet, but then again it had been a long weekend - weren’t holidays the best? Makes sense she would go visit home, hell it was probably safer for her to be there once things went down.
Just fanciful daydreams from the paranoid girl.

Three knocks on the door jolts her from her thoughts.
Camera three flips on.

“Beerfest?” She uttered, an eyebrow raised. She hops off her bed and peeks out her door. The nosy roommate of hers was probably burying herself in math homework, determined to finish before her. Kanami would never understand nerds like her.
Safe! She crossed the hall to the door and opens it for him. What in the world could he want?

The normally easygoing Dev was flustered to say the least, or in any case he was focused. He seemed to stare past her as if he was trying to gather something to say. She couldn’t imagine what he wanted to say, so she kept the door back with one foot and crossed her arms to wait.

“...Where,”

“...Gonna need more than a fragment, Beerfest.” Kanami says flatly, narrowing her eyes. He would have to in order to say what's on his mind.
