“You will see the truth for yourself.” Even with her eyes shut, the world darkened. There was a hum, a soft tune that a fair muse sings to composer, before she felt the process begin. Mechanical clangs and whirls. The tingling feeling in her fingertips, on her cheeks, when teleporting to a place far away from the heartache. Had it been that long since she had felt that? Had she been torn away from that world for longer than she knew? Happiness melted into a sadness, pooling in a place in her heart she couldn’t reach. I waited. And waited. Why? Was I nothing to all of them? Her eyes open wide at the sight greeting her. Falling! No, the weightlessness of falling and yet floating down through cool clouds, the grand sight of the world below her rushing fast to her. In any other situation, there would be fear – how would she survive falling from this height! Instead, her brow furrowed in determination and she felt not an ounce of fear. Downtown Buffalo Time: 1:30 PM on a Saturday For a day in late autumn, the weather was crisp and cool, but not enough to wear anything heavier than a sweater. Leaves still fell, though many had long shifted from brilliant reds and oranges to the pre-winter brown. Thick clumps of clouds mostly obscured the blue sky, but it did not stop anyone in the busy downtown districts of Buffalo. People carried on with their business. Many were with friends, family, enjoying a fine weekend after work and school – shopping, dining, wandering. And rarely do the eyes of many rise to the sky. Had enough cared to look, there would have at least been a warning to the prelude of disaster. A dot in the sky quickly grew in size, a silvery object falling from the heavens. Three bright blue rings of energy at three points emitted no sound from the descending object. Shouts. What the hell was that in the sky!? Screams, too late. Running, too late. The Object lands in the center of Downtown Buffalo with a rumble felt for miles around. Unfortunate souls crushed beneath its landing had been unable to escape from the radius of the object. None of this occurred to the being inside, the only thoughts in mind was seeking the truth. The object stands several meters tall, so tall that the humans below looked little more than frantic ants. The trio of energy discs glowed and rotated, allowing it to float feet from the ground without a sound. Why? Have you forgotten me? Have they all abandoned me? The objects cries out in an almost pained, grating mechanical voice that pierced through the chaotic city: "LUCAS!" |

The day was perfect for shopping, which aside from being with Lucas was her favorite pass time despite, or perhaps because of, her usual limited budget. She didn't need to buy anything, she just wanted to browse the downtown area. Her pale pink skirt fluttered around her slender legs as she walked, a white blouse with 3/4 sleeves hiding her torso from view. She was a lovely girl, slender and willowy without being considered TOO thin or sickly looking. Her long hair was tied in a ponytail with a bright, hot pink ribbon and it fell to the backs of her knees in one, smooth length of nearly red perfection. She held a leash in her hand, something that was unusual but required when she went to places like this, attached to this leash was a special harness on her familiar, the words 'Service Animal in Training' written across the side. How else would one get a Snow leopard to walk around with you in such a place after all? It was a brilliant idea her youngest brother had come up with a few years prior and it always worked. She'd left the school early, wanting to have a few hours of "Zxaine time" and she was heading back, under her arm was a bag with a few new scarves in it, her one true wardrobe weakness really, and her hazel-green eyes were content and calm. It had been some time since Stella had vanished and she wasn't sure where else to look. She'd done quite a bit of ... well her version of hacking which was really just going someplace she wasn't supposed to go via her powers and looking through things until she found what she was looking for, she hadn't found anything though. Absolutely nothing. After awhile even her curiousity had died away to nothing. She paused by a store window, looking in with a smile at a satin silver-blue dress. She could never afford something like that but it would be nice to have pretty things to wear when she went out with Lucas. Her birthday was soon and he still hadn't even clued her in on what they were doing. So secretive. She tended to give her surprises away without realizing it much to her disappointment. She was about to move on when chatter around her made her look in the direction of the pointing, eyes narrowing to try and focus on the object falling from the sky towards her direction. "What the?" She mumbled, a yelp of surprise coming from her as the rumble of it landing about a mile away shook the ground. She stumbled to one side, landing heavily against the glass of the window which luckily hadn't broken. She straightened up and walked towards the fallen object cautiously, her usual innate flight response blocked out by her feline like curiousity. "Mistress... we should be careful." Damion rumbled, obediantly following yet clearly even more cautious then her. She could see the object now, though she couldn't make it out. Instead she heard it cry out, the tone pained yet something else. Her eyes widened. "LUCAS!" She stood frozen, the pavement cracked and uneven under her flat shoes, staring wide-eyed at the object that hovered above her. Her fingers trembled, fear washing over her. The first thing coming to mind was fear for the boy who was still back at school... waiting for her. |

The glowing aqua eye flickered in search of where it was, surveying to see if it's mechanical call summoned the person. Longing to see, longing to know the truth. A flicker to down and left and the eye would glimpse the one person, the interloper, the one who pried between them with callous glee. Unmistakable. The eye glows from aqua to crimson. It was HER. The trio of discs flickered red before fading back to blue, rotating the opposite direction. The gesture was clear, no mistake in showing that Zxaine Fisher was in great danger. Inside, the frail being felt rage slowly boil inside, biting her lip to try and lock it back. Was it you? You kept him away. You kept HIM away! The metallic creature emits another grating, mechanical cry, releasing a burst of destructive energy from the discs. While two bursts went in opposite directions, barreling through two nearby skyscrapers, one bursts from the bottom disc. The ground quakes with violent energy forces large chunks of the ground in all directions. |

Paralyzed was a good way to explain how she felt right now, her feet apparently stuck to the floor as the creature looked around. Damion pressed against her leg but still she didn't move, even to run her fingers through his fur. Then... it seemed to notice her and she managed half a step backwards, the mechanical terror's eyes flooding from blue to red and she swallowed a cry. She would not scream... not yet anyways. She could sense the danger she was in, this thing meant her harm... but where would she go? How would she run from something like that? Who would help here here? No one. The blasts of energy brought her back to reality and she took another step back, fear plain on her face as the thing let out another screech. Turning she broke into a run, long hair trailing behind her like a banner, and the leopard ran easily beside her, trying to figure out where they could go to hide. The bag with her scarves were dropped, spilling across the ground in a delicate pile of pinks, oranges, blues, and greens. Her fingers reached into her purse, groping for the Aeon that normally just collected dust. She slammed her thumb against the keys, pounding His number into it before pressing the call button and pressing it to her ear. Ring.... Ring... "Please answer... please...." She panted, out of breath, he was probably in the shower or something.... Finally the voicemail picked up and she darted into an alleyway, glancing around the edge and whispering into the phone. "Lucas... something bad is happening downtown... help..." She mumbled in a ragged pant, squeaking as she saw the creature heading towards her. "There is a ... a thing.... chasing me. I ... I don't know if I can lose it." She paused, inhaling deep. "I hope you get this in time... Love... " after uttering her normal goodbye of nothing more then 'love' she hit end and peeked out, that thing knew where she was, and it would have no trouble getting to her. So she ran. |
