Plamo UK - New UK Based Paint Store

Hi, I'm Kyle Waller, some of you may know me from around other forums :D.

I thought people would be interested in my store and the range of new lacquer paints that I sell. I decided to do something about the difficulty of sourcing Mr. Colour paints by starting my own store and brand of paints to serve as an alternative to them.

My store is called plamo-uk and can be found at Plamo UK. I've got a large range of colours already, but I'm always happy to mix up new ones specially if there's colours you want, but I don't have already. My prices are aimed at being better value than current model paints on a per ml basis, especially my primer which is very similar to Mr. Surfacer, but a lot cheaper.

My initial intention was to make lacquer model paints easily to access for UK Modellers, but I ship internationally and have had orders from all around the world, with an average time of 3 days shipping time to the USA and Canada.

Hopefully some of you will be interested in my paints. :D

Hey Sneeper! Thanks a lot XD Yeah I'm in the UK :)

I'm gonna be expanding my range very soon to bring a lot more products, the next lot being resin model kits from SMS, which I hope to have in stock in the next month or so. :approve:

I'm gonna be doing miniature paints very soon too as a "Plamo Colour - Acrylic Miniature paints" type of thing as a cheaper alternative to the likes of Citadel paints, but again being cheaper with more paint in the bottle. :approve:

I want to share my experience with Plamo Colour. My initial transaction with Plamo Colour was on June 6, for the purchase of £238 GBP ($400) for an amount of paint and shipping.

I gave Kyle the benefit of the doubt on several delayed dates for shipment over the next 6 weeks, until it became too late to file a Paypal dispute for that original transaction. Immediately after that date was crossed, Kyle stopped replying to my emails.

At the end of August, I noticed that one of my forum mates (mvm) mentioned purchasing paint from there. I PM'd him and told him about my order, and emailed Kyle to let him know that I had already told mvm and would continue to tell anyone else I could that he had stiffed me on my order. This was the first time he replied to an email since the Paypal dispute date passed. He claimed he had already shipped it just that week and that I would get it soon.

Two weeks later I asked for a tracking number. No reply. Three weeks after that I asked again and got a reply in early October. Despite the shipping quote being £40 ($60+) I was told that there was no tracking number. Kyle offered to resend my shipment. I offered to pay for shipping. On October 6 it was agreed that I would pay to reship the order with tracking via DHL. I was quoted at £32 - less than the amount that somehow didn't cover tracking in the first place - I paid £40 out of a desire to help defray some small part of the paint that was alleged to have been lost.

I received no emails or updates after I sent that payment. I gave Kyle the full length of time I could before opening a Paypal dispute on it, sending several emails in the meantime. It wasn't until I opened the dispute on Nov 8 that I received an update from him, almost immediately, with a tracking number for DHL.

http://www.dhl.co.uk/content/gb/en/express/tracking.shtml?brand=DHL&AWB=5199479504

That tracking number has said "Shipment Information Received" - in other words, that Plamo Colour has told DHL that he needed a tracking number for a box to go to my address, but hasn't ACTUALLY given them a package to mail to me - since November 11. Over a month after I paid shipping for the second time, and almost a month ago. I have sent him several emails since then. I have received no response. I have escalated the Paypal dispute to a claim. He has not responded to the claim.

It has been half a year since I spent 2 years worth of paint budget at once in an effort to help a fledgling company producing a product that I liked the look of. I can't afford more paint. Kyle has never offered me a refund - I don't want one. I just want to be able to work on my kits again. The constant re-raising of my hopes over the half year and complete irregularity of communication, as well as seeing several other people order, receive, and finish models with his paint since my order began has only made my stress over this worse.

I would ask that anybody considering ordering from Kyle take this into account. If I ever receive my paint, I will edit this post to reflect that.

I had no issue with him. Ordered my paints, they arrived the next day. Excellently wrapped and sprays great, he even gave me a free bottle of thinner.

This is what I am in the middle of right now. I place a order almost a month ago but paid in the wrong currency so I paid again for the same order in the correct currency. There was an issue with a refund because of the exchange rate so I just asked for more paint to cover the reffund. I got shipping info on 1st order and never got it then he tells me he canceled it to combine the 2 orders to save "me" $30 in shipping but I already paid so it's saving "him" $30 in shipping and not me. My 1st experience was great but now I and having serious second thoughts about buying from him again. The latest news is I should have my almost $500 worth of stuff on Tuesday. If I don't get it by Wednesday or Thursday I will dispute the Payment through PayPal.

Just a warning.

As I mentioned in the email I sent to you Matt,

I don't believe the same thing is happening to you as you've suggested, not at all we've been in discussion the whole time as you know. and I think you've been a bit pre-emptive with posting this post multiple times.

The initial problem was that you paid with Euros rather than GBP, which we tried to sort out, you sent the correct payment afterwards in GBP and in the meantime I tried to sort out the refund of Euros out for you. With me not having any Euros in my paypal account, it wouldn't let me refund the payment directly, so after many phone calls to paypal they said the only way to "refund" it would be to send the monies as a gift payment, this meant both me and Matt would have lost out on a chunk due to the multiple currency conversions and fees paypal take when doing currency conversions.

So you suggested you can just order more paint, which has been agreed on. As I said in the email I sent you, adding more item will of course increase the cost of shipping, and I don't think it's fair that you're suggesting I'm saving myself $30 on shipping because that is not the case at all, so while you believe you've already paid for shipping completely, you paid for shipping on the original lot of stuff you ordered. Anything additional will of course increase the shipping costs.

If I was trying to save myself $30 on shipping (effectively rip you off which is how it's coming across apologies if that's not your intention, but it's hard to grasp the exact meaning of things when conveyed in text form) I wouldn't have offered you the discount I offered you.

As a man who ran a successful Video store/video game (import) retail store (Game Gallery / Universal Video) for many years....... I will say this...

Customer satisfaction is key.

Discount is .....nice/fair....depending on the %

this is only my insight from my prior experience....(15 years worth)

(NON-ADMIN INVOLVED)...Only my 2cents.

That is great news and I myself would love to buy from Kyle, but I find it odd that he responded to mvm on a public forum (which makes sense since mvm is a well known modeller, and it would look like bad business to let down a strong member of a community;) yet did not respond to Robodevil in any way or form. Kyle if you are reading this, it is not a personal attack against you or PLAMO. Ive been interested in your lacquers for some time now but can't bring myself to making a purchase until the dilemma with Robodevil clears up as well.

Harry, Robodevil has definitely been replied to. I'm speaking to him via PMs and did so before I was even aware of the posts in this thread. I posted a response to mvm here not because of his status within the community but to correct inaccuracies in his posts. Such as the last few. When I make a booking with DHL, I can't guarantee the time or they they will pick it up, sometimes they are unable to collect it on the requested day, so in Matt's case his order was booked for Monday just gone but only picked it up today. The time if the year does have an impact on these type of things, like the so called "Christmas Rush".

But for example, the shipment information received means more than DHL know I want to send something, it means a collection has been booked and from that point on I'm reliant on DHL to pick it up and ship out. I can't do any more than that, it's then their turn to collect it when they can. I just wish Matt would dial it back a bit because I've been in talks with him the whole time and I'm sure he knows how couriers work like I described above. I completely agree with everything Robodevil has said, but not with what Matt has been saying so I've posted that here.

Thank you for the polite and professional clarification. I assumed robodevil had not been taken care of due to his lengthy and upsetting post (lacking a public reply) but, what you say makes sense to an extent. He said he would modify his post to reflect any changes so it was an assumption that no amends have been made. Hopefully the issue is resolved, as I'd really like to try out PLAMO paints sometime.
