Who are you calling an old man?

Toadtown Square Main:

Posted Image

Toad Object: 082E652C

It's a toad, but wait, you walk under him, he apparently has no unique scripts. (No convos... no movement..)

Bowser Object: 082E6608 (X and Y were at 0, 0.

Koppa Cruiser: Goomba Room

Posted Image

Save Block Object: 082E64C0

Turn byte 082E64D0 into A1 to see it, and be able to use it. The shadow is missing underneath it, I'm not sure if it is with the save block or not.

Star Yoshi

Ooh, that is a nice little find. As for this topic...

Battle:

Pop Goomba (no attack + messed up attack cursor)
Mossy Goomba (no attack)
Paragoomba (no attack + fewer animations)
Nice Guy (no attack + virtually no other animations)
Sgt. Starshade (no attack + practically no animations)
Dummonster (dummy monster + no attack)
Mallet (can be targeted)
Time Bob-omb (is an actual enemy, can be targeted)

Placeholder Bros. Attacks

Beta background, Woohoo Hooniversity

Audio:

Beta Song 1
Beta Song 2
Beta Song X (2, but it loops)
Beta Song 3

Sprites:

Beta enemy sprites
Starbeans cameos
Mario & Luigi (other animations, such as Luigi covered by Pikmin)
Fortuneteller (?)
Some icons (such as to get off of the Luigiboard, and the beta Jump, Hammer, and Hand)
Some known sprites (recoloured)
Male Lady Lima
Surfing Oho Jee (reaction to hand power)
Beta overworld enemy
Beanfruit
Misc. (including flaming Hooniversity Statues)

Golden Bullet Bill (also known as Bombshell Bill)
Raised Bill Blaster
Red/Green Pepper coming out of block

Text:
Beta key item "Game & Watch"
Possibly beta badge
Coloured beans + beanfruit
Starbeans cameo dialogue

French, Italian, Spanish, German (all used in the European version, not used in North American, probably not available in Japanese)

Japanese to others (might be removed from the data though):

Heart Blocks
Instructions during Prologue with Toad
One or two beta equipment items
"Mario & Luigi" logo at beginning (changed)

Misc.:

Beta gear
Beta gear ailments
Debug Rooms
Stardust Fields room
Extra items/options to come out of blocks

And this seems to be about it so far, aside from some things that I might be missing, or more instances of having blocks removed.

Have a nice day.

Have a nice day!

Oh wow, it's been a while. Um. Hi. I guess I can get back into M&L stuff sooner or later, it really has been ages.

To use a sword, /\ and / again.

Who are you calling an old man?

Upon further inspection, I have found something interesting..

The Battle Text Database here: 08516E98

Now, there are five languages, English being the first, when I follow that one... You notice the text is not there, but when I follow the others, I find text.

Translating the Spanish one, I get:

Test
Test 2
Level?
Awkward!

- And I also found a down arrow a long time ago, I didn't think much of it, but I'm suspecting it is also Beta.. or something for a debug mode or something.

Sadly, it only looks like the "Level?"one is being linked to... at a maximum of 8 times.

Who are you calling an old man?

I'm uploading the first Beta Song now.

It plays the intro.. and then the next part is looped, so I decided to record that part a second time in this clip.

Sorry about posting in this, but I just want to clarify on some things you found.

The Heart Block is unused in the US and EU versions, but it's in the Japanese version. It appears in the Beanbean Castle Sewers, Oho Oasis, and in Teehee Valley.

Also, there is some unused equipment in the game as well:

Chuckola Pants - Pants made to look like Chuckola Fruit.
Heavy Slacks - Very heavy pants made of Hoohoo Blocks.
Light Slacks - Very light and made of Parabeanie wings.
Jeanie Jeans - Magic jeans that boost DEF in battle.
Jeaniest Jeans - The best-looking, best-fitting jeans.
Oho Gear - Pants with a raging wave print.
Safe Guard - An outfit that blocks status ailments.

The Oho Gear is only available in the Japanese version.

I found all of this info from The Cutting Room Floor Wiki.

This was Smorg's beta appearance, but now it's used for Screamy. What a shame.

Who are you calling an old man?

It is perfectly okay to post here and anywhere you want regardless of the last dated post as there is no grave digging rule, and there never will be....

"The Heart Block is unused in the US and EU versions"

From my research, I do not think the heart block exists at all in the US version. (Not even as unused.) I have not checked the EU version, though.

Would it be possible to port "The Heart Block" into the US and EU version?

Who are you calling an old man?

Of course. By means of copying the sprite over and making an object that pretty much matches the one in the Japanese version. (Obviously cannot be done in Yoshi Magic yet.)

Good enough, I'd love to see some sort of mod that include "The Heart Block" on US/EU versions of the game. That would make the game a lot easier.
