No game for the first team so I hope that some of you will find time to come and cheer on the reserves.
They have a tough match against Clayton Redgate so a few Grove supporters would be appreciated by the lads, come on down its only a couple of quid, why go and put money in some other club,s pot ?

Alternatively,

Alsager host Squires Gate in a League Cup game - guaranteed entertainment given the teams have played a cumulative total of 33 League game between them and those games have seen 121 goals - an average of over 3.5 a game!!

Dabber ,
Thanks for the info mate, have been to watch your lads (not this term though) three or four times last season and to be fair they were,nt too shabby, however loyalty to our reserves matters this time. Good luck though hopefully 4-0 result for the Bullets

Good game to watch today although we lost , first 20 minutes some of our football was of a higher standard than one would expect at this level and the commitment was super plus, gave away a silly first goal through poor defending which meant the lad,s heads went down temporarily but Carl and Scott rallied them up again, Dave Shaw missed two sitters (one I could have fanned in with my cap ) but the one that Phil Parky scored I,m glad that their keeper didn,t get behind it or he would have needed a paramedic, seriously, its a long time since I saw a ball hit with such power, that brought us level.
On balance I thought that Redgate just shaded it with their second half performance but the scoreline flattered them a little.
Positive from the game? Grove,s young Alex (Everton,s Felani lookalike), this boy has some potential I kid you not, and Parky was talking him all through the game, I think this lad is only about 18/19 years old somebody needs to have a serious look at him, although I,ve got a feeling that I might be in for a rollicking from Carl and Scott for saying this. LOL.
Referee and officials a solid enough, 6.5 each, one or two "iffy" decisions but the Ref was pretty close to the action all through the game.

Did JJ play ? This would have been the ideal opportunity for him to get 90 minutes football under his belt !!

Blue Mugge ,
It is my understanding that the sort of contract J , J, signed has restricted him to playing only for the first team, I maybe wrong cos I am not fully conversant with contracts these days, but I believe that he cannot play for any other team at any level.
If this is wrong then I am expecting loud howls of protest, and someone will be itching to put me right.
Hows Curt doing at Hanley Town ? I think he would be most welcome back at The Grove and probably enjoy playing under the new set up, I,m not saying that he would walk back into the team immediately but for me he would have a good chance, it seems that with Carl and Scott they have different ideas this term, e,g,yesterday they played a very interesting 3-4-3 with Parkie dropping off of the back three to play sweeper,I personally thought that it worked quite well.

It is a county league rule that stops jj playin for the reserves . Contract players are not allowed to play in this league this is what ive been told . It would do him the world of good. He could play for any kidsgrove ath team as he is contracted to the club not just the first team if tis answers your question honda .

Hoss,
On Saturday I was talking to J,J and he was desperate to get full game under his belt but I,m fairly sure he said that he was not allowed tp play for the reserves,
( perhaps this a K,A,F,C,internal descision ) I thought that was a shame cos with the system that Carl and Scott played against Clayton Redgate it would have been interesting to have seen a front three of Dave Shaw, Nood and J,J with J,J given a free role to work the pitch behind the two,I,m not saying for one minute that Edders played badly, on the contrary I thought he had a great knock .
Though I enjoyed Saturday,s match I was a little disappointed to notice that there were not many of the "Flag Waving" fraternity there, I would have thought that although there was quite a few of the regular first team supporters there with the first team not having a game we could have seen a few more regulars, after all the only competition was Stoke at home and I guarantee that our lads made more passes alomg the ground in the first 20 minutes than Stoke did all game.
Thats me getting a rollocking from an irate Craftman.
But thanks for the info mate.
