the title of this topic is spot on, every time i look on when grove have played there seems to be a pattern grove played well, missed chances, etc, etc. But ultimately you come away with no points, and thats it really grove need to be picking up some draws and then at least your in the game to the death and maybe nick something, jim bowen wasnt wrong points make prizes. Also birksy had a run for norton against stoke wednesday, cant understand why these youngsters every one was talking about pre season didnt get a look in. |

HI. FALSE POSITION..LET'S NOT KID OURSELVES. IT'S ONLY FALSE IF THE LEAGUE HAS NICKED SOME POINTS OFF US CUS THEY DON'T LIKE OUR CHIPS. CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE ON THE PITCH. MORE ACCURATLEY, THEY NEED TO BE AT LEAST ATTEMPTED. HAS ANYONE NOTICED ANY DIFFERENT TACTICS OR FORMATIONS BEING TRIED SINCE AUGUST, BECAUSE I HAVEN'T. THE COACHING STAFF NEED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW. HOW ABOUT DROPPING KINSEY FOR A START (TRIED HARD NOT TO NAME DROP BUT CAN'T HELP IT). WHEN I MAKE APROX 3 TRIPS TO THE BREW HUT FOR A CUPPA ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON, WALKING TO AND FRO A COUPLE OF HUNDRED YARDS EACH TIME I HAVE REALISED I AM COVERING MORE YARDS ON A SATURDAY THAN HE IS. I KNOW HE IS A POPULAR LAD IN THE BAR SO I WILL GET PELTERS FOR SAYING THIS BUT IT NEEDS SAYING. THE WORRYING THING IS THAT I WAS INITIALLY JOKING ABOUT THE YARDS THING BUT NOW I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT, ITS TRUE.

Hello all you fellow sufferers Just had my first look at the forum since last Saturday morning and am totally shocked at the results of the last two games. The various posts over the past week make interesting reading but are no consolation to the fact that we rest on the bottom of the league, and in spite of some of you trying to remain upbeat we have to face facts that something is going belly up at the moment, I have said before that in my opinion Shaun has dipped his toe into the water and found it too deep, so at the risk of being accused of pressing the panic button I feel that a change in management should be considered, not sure who would be available to come in but there must be other options out there. Shank has said to try dropping Kins, apart from the fact I personally disagree with this WHO have we here at the Grove to replace him ? o,k, he aint the most mobile of players but he reads the game well and he is probably the most vocal on the park including the management team and lets face it Kins doesn,t talk shite, (o,k, maybe sometimes in the bar) but joking apart we ain,t got a ready made replacement. The squad Shaun has at his disposal contains at least seven players from last term who gave us a fairly respectable league position finish, took us on a fabulous money spinning cup run and then won us the cup at the end, these players ain,t become bad players since last season, plus we have aquired Dave Dyson ( who himself would not claim to be Hodgy) who ain,t a bad keeper, Donners, perfectly able to play at this level, Nadginton scores goals wherever he is playing, Curley ( too much of a gentleman ) but he ain,t too shabby as a central defender, this is a pretty experienced squad for this level so we must look elsewhere for the problem we have at the moment. Like I have said before we are all Fergies from the touchline and it is easy when we are not in the hot seat, but most of us have an inkling of how the the beautiful game should be played and it would appear that at the moment it is not happening. Will be there tomorrow to cheer the lads on, so it would be nice to return to watch a win please lads. Fingers crossed |

At least with kinsey you can have some great banter,he cheered up the travelling fans on otherwise a depressing evening at market Drayton. He wins the ball and holds it up well, delievers decent crosses and yes he's not very mobile due to his weight, but he takes the jokes well and is very popular with most fans,Respect |

Certainly agree with that. The concern at the moment (other than the early season league position) is that a lot of the teams who are narrowly banded below the front two appear to be more able to improve their teams and squads. A quick look around the websites tells you that. I see Castle have brought in Millar from Leek who will be a better player for appearing on a football pitch rather than a farmers field

WELL AS LONG AS HE KEEPS THE AWAY FANS HAPPY LET HIM PLAY INTO HIS FIFTIES ???? I KNEW IT WOULD NOT PROVE POPULAR BUT I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT REPLY... I THINK SATURDAYS GAME AND THE REPLIESI HAVE READ HERE ARE ONLY PROVING MY POINT. HE HAD NO IMPACT ON GAME WHATSOEVER (APART FROM A COUPLE OF GOOD ONE-LINERS AND A KNOCK KNOCK JOKE). 'WINS THE BALL' - CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME. 'PROVIDES GOOD CROSSES' - AGAIN, I STRUGGLING TO REMEMBER ONE. I DON'T WANT TO PUT EVERYTHING AT ONE PLAYERS FEET, (CUS HE WOULD ONLY GIVE IT WAY) OR COACHES FOR THAT MATTER BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT JOBS FOR THE BOYS. ALTERNATIVES - TRY A DIFFERENT FORMATION. TRY1 UP FRONT AND SOME MORE ENERGY IN MIDFIELD. WOULD THOSE OF YOU WHO BACK KINSEY BE WILLING TO BACK HIM AS MANAGER?? |

Shank, Without wishing to prolong the Kinsey debate it is common knowledge that Kins and no-one else managed to persuade several of "the old hands" to stay and play for the Grove, as for your question re, backing Kinsey for the managers job,I,m not sure he would take it but my reply to that question is as Player Manager yes, at least we would here some vocal support/tactical noise from the dugout which is missing at the moment. Not sure where you were on the ground on Saturday but I,m sure I saw more from Kins than you are suggesting, however before I am asked if I have any axe to grind with Kins I most certainly do not You mention tactics ??? that is the management teams job and I ain,t seen any different approach all season so far, and as for management decisions re subs on Saturday I am still totally bewildered. You mention "jobs for the boys", like you I am not happy about picking out one player (and this ain,t personal) but can you explain why Ash Hill keeps getting a game when there are alternatives on the bench who are more capable ? there are at least two midfield players in the reserve squad who could fit in better than Ash. |

HI. YES I MUST AGREE WITH THE THE ASH HILL COMMENT, I DON'T SUSPECT WE ARE TURNING DOWN OFFERS FOR HIM. BUT HE IS AT LEAST A TRYER LOOKING AT THE POSITIVE. ENOUGH NEGTATIVE NAME DROPPING FOR ONE WEEK. (APART FROM REFS AND THE COACHES). SOME POSITIVE NAME DROPPING - WHO WAS THE YOUNG TALL LAD WHO COME ON AS LEFT BACK ON SATURDAY. THOUGHT HE LOOKED EAGER AND INTELLIGENT, SOMETHING DRASTICALLY LACKING IN OTHER AREAS. LET'S PUSH HIM ON INTO MIDFIELD, WHY NOT. FINGERS CROSSED FOR TONIGHT, LETS KEEP A BIT OF SATURDAYS LUCK GOING  |

That was Jack Sherratt - I've also been impressed with what I've seen of him so far. He played midfield in the Trophy at Stamford and looked useful. |

Shank, The young guy was Jack Sherratt who I had previously mentioned in the topic "today,s game,", exactly my point, if we have potential like that on the bench and as happened on Saturday Skelts had to be subbed the management had two alternatives, 1, bring on Jack at left back and move Taz Taylor to midfield (I think Taz could do a job there) thus providing some distribution skills, or 2,bring Jack into midfield where he would have experienced players all round him. During the second half I moved over to the left side where young Jack was playing and as I said previously he was listening to Taz, Donners and Dys whilst at the same time making decisions for himself, I was pleasantly surprised. Best of luck to the lads tonight I cannot make it for reasons well known on this forum |

Would that be the same Jack Sherratt from the conveyor belt from the Melvyn Wilkes academy?? Cliff Moyo (droylsden) Josh Glover (witton albion) Ben Mills (macclesfield town) Tim Sanders (leek) Simon Everall (stafford - wardy said not good enough for grove??) another horror story Chris Smith (swindon town - again not good enough for both wardy or even shaun at dominoes??) The players are out there its just a case of putting the right people in place who can both attract them, but more importantly can coach them. The game of football is evolving quickly and players want to be coached, other clubs are moving forwards by doing this why aren't we? Some good points made in previous posts but there still is plenty of time to turn things around. The most successful managers all share the same thing, They have all had the time and support from the board, maybe not a change of the manager required maybe a change of the coaching staff? |

I consider myself reprimanded. please expand on the 'oh dear', i am intrigued. i have no problem in convincing Kins to start looking towards a coaching role. personally i never commented on the reason for his lack of mobility but i would have put it down to injuries, whereas some of you went straight for the 'weight'. i believe you Crafty may have been the first to call him Fatso. and your his friend. you should be ashamed of yourself.

Think you have me mistaken for someone else sport ! If u have proof to your silly comment then please feel free to reveal it or are you trying to deflect your comments onto other people ? As for Andy he's no personal friend of mine , just a guy who gives 100 % each game whatever his shortcomings. " oh dear " refers to Honda missing a game to his reasons stated ! You are the individual who for some reason has picked out Kins for criticism , as opposed to pointing to the team as a whole ! Get your facts right Pratt ! |

Shank, "Crafty" as you call him is our most esteemed CRAFTMAN a wise old sage who I have never known to be personal when referring to any other person , I certainly don,t recall him having used the name Fatso when talking about Kins. With regard to being intrigued with my occasional absence from games it is because on most Tuesday nights I have up to 15 ladies requiring my attention, so my friend, you can read into that whatever you like but be rest assured that it ain,t a knitting club. As far as I,m concerned you are most welcome on this forum as it is always interesting to read other points of view whether controversial or otherwise, and judging by some of your posts so far I am assuming that at some time or other you have played the beautiful game. |

Actually, think it more the 'Nige Deeley Academy' than Melv Wilkes....... Jack Sherratt was blooded in mens football last season at Alsager and is physically capable of handling himself but, like most younger lads, needs working on to improve. I have no idea how training is conducted at Kidsgrove these days but having played under likes of Deeley, Nige Gleghorn, Neil Cox and more recently Andy Turner.....they all spend time on training ground looking to improve players both individually and as a unit. Given finances are pretty tight everywhere these days, developing and improving younger players has to be the way forward blending them with a core of more experienced lads. |
