Better showing today although the opposition were not up to much, having said that you can only beat what is in front of you and Grove did that without having to break sweat. I am still puzzled as to which system the lads play, the midfield was once again somewhat lacking and vacant areas occur too often, there could also be a lot more talking between defenders too often their positional play was exposed by a forward line even with limited ability. The ref,s whistle was blown so often I was beginning to think I had tinitus, some of his decisions were to say the least incomprehensible, for sure he has never played the game himself. Still I suppose a 4-1 win shpuld give the lads a boost, speaking for myself I enjoyed the game and am surprised that one or two more of the Grove fans do not make the effort to watch the lads if they do not travel to first team away games. |

It was a good performance from the reserves although i think they should of scored 3 or 4 more it was that easy for them, I also think the referee was whistle happy and agree he did give some strange decisions and wore out his yellow card, Dont know how old the linewoman/girl was maybe only 15 or 16 but she had a good game and got her decisions right, Dont really think any of the team could really step up into the first team this season but there is potential especially young winger no 10 think he's called JJ hes got a bit of pace and is 1 for the future with a bit more experience and guidence. |

JJ is deffo one for the future . How many first-teamers wouldn't shine in the reserve side - I can think of more than a couple, even though their first team performances are considered to be acceptable. I can't recall you commenting on the forum last season that Nathan Blissett had potential, so I can only assume that you didn't rate him either. |

Dogbox, So sorry to pick you up but you are not P.C.she is called the referee,s female line assistant, not 15/16 year old lineswoman/girl LOL, however you are indeed right every decision she had to make was correct, but this is nothing new because I,m sure that as you know all women are never wrong, you can ask my mother in law if you don,t believe me. Being serious though I am of the same opinion as you about the lad called J J he has potential along with another couple of lads I saw on Saturday, but the disjointed way they play as a team does not bring out the best in one or two of the lads,it would be nice though to see one or two more spectators rhere to encourage the them |

Honda. me and you are obviously on the same wavelength. This is the point that I am trying to make when I say there are first-teamers who couldn't shine in the Reserve side. I aren't saying that they are bad players, just that they would find it difficult to perform in a "disjointed" team. Therefore, the reverse of this is that there may be other players in the reserves who would be able to perform a lot better if they had a bunch of first-teamers around them. |

Blue Mugge We may be on the same wavelength re two or three players reaping the benefit of playing with the first team, however I would be pushed to say that any of the first teams regulars would not stand out playing in the 2nd eleven if only that their experience would come into play as well as their ability. There is an obvious need for someone with tactical nous to coach the 2nd eleven in order for the ones with potential to prosper. On Saturday I got the impression that it was a 4.4.2 set up but at times it 4.0.6 with the midfield non-existant thus leaving the back four too exposed in fact their player wearing 24 caused too many problems for Grove defence early on because he was running freely from a vacant midfield. As I,ve said before I would be the last to critisize or to claim fame as a coach but I think that sometimes Grove neglect the basics, I only intend to offer constructive comments, and hope that no offence is taken. |

I "think" they were playing 4-3-3 , but whatever the formation started out as, it was modified by the players on several occasions. I'm not saying that NONE of the first teamers would stand out in the Reserves, but there are more than just a couple who wouldn't. Let's put it this way, there have been plenty of instances both last season and this, where players from the 1st team squad (including starting 11 players) have appeared in the reserves. After the match, I have asked the opposing manager to guess which of our side came from the 1st team. Not once have they named the correct players - apart from Sam Hall, who always stands out a mile. So it ain't just my opinion. |
