The problem is, no matter what you do someone will be unhappy:

Call the game off early at 5pm - the home team moan about lost revenue, pies etc despite the pitch being playable.

Wait until closer to kick-off - the away team moan that they've had to travel unnecessarily

Wait until very close to kick off - everyone complains

Start the game and then realise the pitch isn't safe, so abandon - everyone complains

Carry on playing in dangerous conditions and someone gets injured - simply not worth the risk.

Why dont our local refs check the local weather forecast, for instance on Saturday at HP is was clear on every weather report that is was getting milder later in the day i.e the pitch thawing out and tonight every weather report was stating that it was getting colder as the night wore on i.e the pitch getting harder as the match went on.Jesus christ it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work this out surely

disgrace, revenge for the jigsaw, who knows, shame you couldnt decide what to do after the game as several of us were waiting after the game, common sense prevailed and cards were given out, didnt pay full price anyway.as for a kidsgrove fan having a go saying mine the language i say 2 fingers to you,we have got every right to swear, the match should never have even started.leek should be given a bye

B,V,W, good point you have made I have no arguments with what you say, I live at a fairly high point in Staffs and both of my lawns at the back (always in shade in the winter) at 10-30 am were perfactly playable and that is after a good frosty night.

Mikey H, I'm not sure what you think is a disgrace. You seem to be complaining that you want your money back but then in the next breath you are saying you didn't pay the full price. Perhaps thats cos you blagged your way in as a student, so you have to ask yourself what or who is the disgrace.
And as for the 'club couldn't decide what to do', its not a case of the club deciding what to do, its a case of the club following FA rules (or Staffs FA rules) on what to do. In this case, I understand that the Staffs FA handbook makes no mention of abandoned games so a member of the Staffs FA was sought out. Unfortunately, no member of the Staffs FA was available, either in person or by telephone as there was a Staffs FA meeting tonight. At that point (maybe 15 minutes after the game was abandoned) a decision was made to issue cards to people (mainly Leek fans) who were complaining about wanting money back. You have to understand that the club still has to pay referees, floodlight costs and hospitality for players and refs. In addition how is it possible to refund fans when it is impossible to know who paid what to come in (see Mikey H above).
It would be interesting to know what you think you would have done better.
As for your assertion that 'you have every right to swear', I think you'll find that this is not true and that, in common with every other ground in the land, the club would be perfectly within its rights to have you ejected from the ground.
Finally, for everybody else, I believe that the club is considering reduced price entry for the re-arranged match for everyone, not withstanding the fact that some fans were issued with cards. Will post more when the club have agreed on prices as I understand that this has to be agreed with Leek first (as I believe that they get a share of the gate)

Don't understand where you're coming from you numpty. The club paid out on the raffle and golden goal even though only half the golden goals were sold, so the club actually lost out.
What do you want to moan about now? Maybe you didn't have time to get tanked up at half time with your half a shandy and get in a bit of abusive language at the keeper behind the goal?
Your comments about the flag reveal the type of fan you are and I suspect that even Leek wouldn't be too concerned if you never turned up to watch them again.
